I started fishing at the age of 2 with my grandfather, Dock Brown, and my uncles Greg, Lloyd, Jeff, and Larry Brown on the Cape Fear River Lock & Dam #1 in North Carolina. Richard DeBerry also taught me how to tie a fisherman’s knot at Sandbridge Fishing Pier, and I was determined to learn. I watched and learned from them and other charter boat captains throughout the years. I joined the U.S. Navy in 1989 at age 18, serving as a small RIB boat operator for U.S. Navy SEAL Team 6 and as a Master Helmsman aboard the USS Halyburton (FFG-40) during Desert Storm. I developed a high skill set in ship and small-boat operations and received an honorable discharge. Today, my main goal is to make sure our clients catch fish. If we need to go into overtime to put you on fish, we will. Johnny Quest Sport Fishing was honored with the Angler’s Choice Award in 2024, recognizing our dedication to working as a team and putting our clients on big fish.

    Vi havde det fantastisk med Theo og Tj på Johnny Quest Sportfishing. Vi kunne ikke finde nogen anden charter til at tage os ud på en hård og blæsende dag, men de var klar på udfordringen, og Theo fik os på fisken fra starten, og vi nåede vores grænse ret hurtigt!     Best charter HANDS DOWN!!!

    I’m from Ohio, I’ve taken 3 charters prior to this one and while they’ve all been great, they didn’t even come close to creating the welcoming atmosphere that this one did. This was my first time with Captain Thio and he is in a league of his own! I took my father-in-law and my 6 year old son with me and we caught 56 fish! He promised nonstop action and he certainly delivered! His service went above and beyond and I would recommend him and his crew any day of the week. Excellent knowledge, excellent service, child friendly, inviting, and all of the things!

    Richard, i just want to say this is one of the best charters I've been on. I mean, Jase, being 6 years old, has out fished so many people I've taken fishing in the past 5 years. He's a superhero kid. This was perfect. Thank you, Richard, Paul, and Jase, for such an amazing time on the water today.

    Day Trip Meat Hunt AWESOME CATCHING

    Captain Theo is AWESOME! Put us on a ton of SeaBass and limited out! He’s not afraid to move to find ‘em! Limited out on SeaBass (they are delicious), also caught a bunch of Triggerfish, and a COBIA (omg delicious!!!)! First Mate Samm awesome too! I’ll be booking/catching again with Captain Theo! An awesome day for myself and 2 friends!!!

    With the trip starting a little late due to myself we still made it to our spot in no time through rain and some chop still ended the day with a nice yellowfin and barracuda the crew did way more then I would ever expect of any charter and more I can’t wait to come back in the winter for the big bluefins

    As soon as we dropped bait we were hooking fish left and right. Captain Theo knew all the hot spots and 1st mate Dominique was right there to assist us. It was an amazing day of fishing. Can’t wait till next time.
