Tidal Waters Guide Service is owned and operated by Captain Conner Bryant, a Carolina native. With an obsession for fishing since he was a young boy, he couldn't get enough of fishing local saltwater marshes, flats, creeks, as well as the open ocean. Only a few years later, he began working as a mate on local charter fishing boats, gaining more experience with both inshore and offshore fishing. He later enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard serving as a boatswain's mate. Beyond his Coast Guard career, Captain Conner also worked as a Marine Conservation Officer and continues to serve in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves. The captain is passionate about salt water fishing and tries to help everyone experience it for themselves. Practicing what he preaches, his firm belief is that the only way to keep SC fisheries amazing is to introduce as many new anglers as possible to this incredible world.

    Conner was Great!

Half Day Trip – Inshore (AM) • 3 voksne

Conner did a fantastic job!. Ready when we arrived, boat and equipment very clean and in great shape. His attention to detail was very much appreciated. He knows where to fish and what fish are in the areas. We even caught a redfish that Conner even took a picture of so I know it was a good one! If you want a captain that knows the area, knows fishing, and knows what life is about on the water, this is your guy. If possible, I will use him often in the future!

Captain Connor is a great guide! Professional, personable, informative, and experienced. He put us on fish, showed my wife and I a wonderful time, and even recommended some excellent restaurants to try before we left town. Beautiful marsh area with mullet, redfish, and dolphins as a viewing bonus. We'd definitely use Tidal Waters again in the future and recommend them to others looking to fish the inner banks of the Folly Beach, South Carolina area.

    Great inshore trip

Half Day Trip – Inshore (AM) • 2 voksne

Conner’s knowledge of the area and of the systems we fish was evident immediately. We fished the small streams and channels of the salt marsh in Conners boat. We were seeing redfish within 10 minutes of getting in the boat and his boat and navigating skills were impeccable. He poled his way through the system allowing us to cast to redfish without spooking them and he knew exactly where the fish would be staging. We landed several redfish due to his navigating skills. No other boat would be able to fish these waters. It is a memorable experience to battle a big redfish in inches of water. As a fellow fishing guide from Wisconsin, I would highly recommend Conner for this unusual type of fishing . Best of all, he made us feel like we were lifelong fishing buddies within minutes of meeting him. We had several great conversations with Conner during our trip. Thanks Conner for a great experience.

I did really good experience. The guide knows very well the area and based of your skills he is going to find the adequate spot. Even if it was a tough day, day after a storm, muddy waters we were able the spot fish. The boat is just perfect for job and the he has on his boat such high quality equipments (spinning and fly), I brought my rods but i ended up using his flyrods because they was the recon series, fantastic rods. We went to technical spot small channel and in was a great experiences. Overhall, truly recommended! You can’t go wrong with this guide!

Spring fishing!

Apr 14, 2023 • Folly Beach
Spring fishing is in full affect! Extreme fluctuations of barometric pressure, and cold fronts have had the bite all over the place. One day fish can be turned on and smashing the first thing that hits the water and the next spooked off with a fly hitting the water. Matching the hatch with the bait that I am seeing in the systems has been the go to trick for me. When fishing artificial or fly I have had my anglers fish very slow and controlled. Sight fishing wise, cast 2-2.5’ in front of the fish so that the fish feels like he found it. Those two tricks have worked wonders for me. Creeks/ Marsh: Redfish are starting to break off of the larger schools. I am finding a lot of 2-4 fish schools working the systems and occasional singles. Current breaks on bends, folded over Spartina and oyster beds have been the main targeted areas. Lots of creek shrimp right now, when hunting redfish keep an eye out for where the shrimp are popping. They have been snitching on where they Reds are as they swim through and work. Open water: Still finding fish in the same places they were during the winter. I spend most of my time in creeks but when low waters keeps me in the main rivers I work creek mouths where larger oyster structure is. Also drop offs from main shoreline. The Flounder bite has greatly increased and should only get better as the water continues to warm. Bonnetheads are back in town and being caught, though I have yet to see any in back waters. Flies: My motto over the past couple of weeks has been “ Elephants eat peanuts”. Small black and purple or natural colored bonefish shrimp patterns have been the trick as well as smaller bead eyed clousers. Ive added 2’ of 10lb tippet as well. Flooded grass areas have also provided some feeding fish. Ive stuck with smaller crab patterns with Zonker to maximize the fly movement with minimum movement from the angler. Artificial: Zman Ned Shrimp on a Zman Ned Head have been the go to with spooky fish. Texas Eye Eye Strike paired with a Gulp Translucent ( I prefer Scooby) have also proven great results. Don’t be scared to jazz up some of the artificial with Procure as well! Live: Live shrimp, cut mullet, and mud minnows are the baits I have had best results with. That being said I have yet to try crab but speaking with some other captains in the area, cut crab has also turned them on. I like floating live bait mid to upper water column. Tight Lines!

January Fishing!

Jan 13, 2023 • Folly Beach
My favorite time of the year to fish! Water temps have been fluctuating from low to mid 50's which has the Redfish in the normal winter time feeding patterns. Larger schools in the back of creeks and transiting fish on a falling tide in the system that don't hold water. The systems that are dry during the low, I'm finding the fish have moved out of the creeks and are usually within 100yds on the creek mouth on the shoreline. For the most part they all seem hungry and happy! The water clarity has been amazing! Majority of the bites we have been able to watch as it happens. This is the time of the year for sight fishing! We have been able to spot fish way out and pursue them. Artificial: Zman ned shrimpz, gulp translucent shrimp on a texas eye strike head, and a slow retrieve 3" paddle tail has been the trick for me. Fly: Darker colored clouser and shrimp patterns have been the go-to. Flies with a zonker strip and a little bit of flash have provided a little better results for me. Most of my bites are happening on the fall of the fly during my retrieve.

Summer Time Fishing

Aug 1, 2022 • Folly Beach
June/August fishing has been hot, hot, hot! Creeks and shorelines are loaded with shrimp, crabs, mud minnows, and mullet so the fish have had no shortage of food. Open water I'm seeing large school of menhaden working in and out of the inlets as well as holding off of the back side of the breakers near the beach. Having a great bite consecutively first thing in the morning. On spinning gear in creeks, live shrimp and minnows on around 8" of leader have been working well. I've also had really good luck with center cut portions of mullet for Redfish. When fishing open water cut menhaden on a cork with 2.5-3ft of leader have been also working well for Reds. Early morning bite has also been producing fish on top water plugs as well. For Flounder I have had the best luck with throwing Gulp translucent Scooby shrimp rigged weedless and retrieving extremely slow bouncing on the base of oyster mounds at creek mouths. Also Voodu's and DOA shrimp have been doing well bringing flounder to the boat. Fly fishing has been a blast. Small light weighted flys have been the ticket for me. Clouser minnows and shrimp patterns have been the most productive. Ive liked a darker colored black/purple clouser and natural colored shrimp. With the barometric pressure staying in the 30's i've been focusing on flys that will not make much of a splash and giving my Redfish a lot of lead, allowing the fish to find the fly and not the other way around.

On the move

Apr 21, 2022 • Folly Beach
Seeing lots of happy Redfish! They are slowly starting to move out of the back creeks where they have been held up all winter and moving more towards open water during a falling and low tide. Im still seeing a great amount of fish moving onto the grass flats during a flood tide chasing bait. We have had no shortage of Finger Mullet and Creek Shrimp throughout the entire area. Sharks and Sting Rays are moving in higher numbers as the water continues to warm up. I'm beginning to find Bonnet Head Sharks and multiple different species of Rays on most of the shorelines and the shell banks. Deeper water near the inlets have been holding Spanish Mackerel. They have been arriving in good numbers and have been active and hungry! Ive found the Flounder bite hasn't heated up quite yet. More are being caught but I'm expecting to see it improve over the next few weeks.

Heating Up!

Feb 25, 2022 • Folly Beach
As the water continues to warm up the fish are starting to move into warmer water habits. I'm seeing a lot more Redfish sitting on oyster, mud, and grass flats,. Redfish are becoming more lively and moving along the creeks and shell banks. Needle fish are appearing back in creeks and seeing more stingrays and other warmer water marine life!

Think Skinny!

Jan 20, 2022 • Folly Beach
Still spending a lot of time spot fishing back creeks at the turn of low tide. I'm still seeing large schools of Redfish most in less than 2' of water schooled up tight on each other. Natural colored plastics and ned rigs have been working great for my clients. Deeper pockets on the main river have also been producing nice fish. Most of the open water fish we have put on the boat have been hook near structure in 10-25' water depth. General rule of thumb is still, If you think you are retrieving to slow then slow it down even more.
