    He put us on Fish!

    Hunter was a top notch captain. We had booked in earlh april abd there was a feak heat wave that came through and got temps into the upper 90’s. He suggested we rebook which we did. Today was a great day. Hunter put us on Fish and had top notch gear and honestly one of the best boat designs ive fished on and we are experienced fisher people! Tons of deck space on his 28 foot Cat. He just was an all around awesome captain. We plan to fish with him inshore later this year. Highly recommend.

    Son's 12th Birthday Fishing Best Ever

    My kiddo only wanted to fish for his 12th birthday. Captain Hunter was very responsive to every question/concerns before the trip. He was flexible as the weather information changed. Was ready to go when our party of 8 arrived, and took great care of all of them. Withing minutes of arriving at their spot they were already bringing on board fish. Everyone caught many fish! The boat was great and easy to access. He and his assistant cleaned all our fish and separated them for each family. We would definitely fish with this guide again! My 12 year old said this was his best birthday ever, and all the boys and dads had an amazing time!

    Hunter was an awesome captain , great person very friendly and helpful. We caught stripers ,Wipers , white bass and catfish ,it was a beautiful lake and Hunter worked very hard to get us on fish. We have already booked a trip for Dec and I will continue in the future to book with him,I would recommend highley that you will not be disappointed if you book a trip with him.

    Great fishing trip

    Although it was windy, captain Hunter worked hard to put us on fish and we were successful. Caught plenty of whites and some catfish. Hunter is a great captain, very engaging and easy to talk to. He was patient with new fishermen, funny and very knowledgeable about fishing. It’s my second time with him and there will be many other trips with him. Book him in advance cause he’s plenty busy with trips since he’s so good at his job. I highly recommend him.

    Best fishing experience ever!

    Captain Hunter was the best, I've been on other guided trips and this was truly the most fun and rewarding experience I've had for freshwater fishing. Hunter put us on fish immediately and he worked hard keeping us on fish. My group and I had a very enjoyable day and even when we were hit with a sudden rain shower, we were still filling up the cooler. I will definitely be booking Captain Hunter again, both freshwater and saltwater.

    Slow day but caught enough for dinner/ seems like it might of been slow for most boats too . Its part of fishing it happens . Like always Captain tries hard to move around and find the schooling fish . Always a fun trip With Capt Hunter .

    Hunter is not only a super knowledgeable captain, he is an extremely nice person and is very accommodating. All of his equipment (boat, tackle and electronics) are top of the line. Can’t wait to join him again for a day on the water.

    We caught mainly hybrids, but also a few whites and stripers. One nice-sized, eater catfish found his way into the box. Captain Hunter’s boat is longer than most, and perfect for fishing on lakes and bays. We were two fish short of a hybrid limit, in three hours of fishing, when we had to leave early. We did go home with 12 pounds of filets. I’d give Captain Hunter and ATX, two thumbs up! 👍🏻👍🏻

We have been on a very good striped bass bite this summer on lake buchanan. We’ve been catching fish on live shad along with topwater lures for some very fun action! I have been mostly doing morning trips for the best bite and to beat the heat! Book your trip today to get in on the action.

Fantastic Spring Time Fishing

We have enjoyed a long and hot warming trend with air temps in the 80’s and 90’s leading to higher water temps seeing a spike in our fishing. Now we have many options for fishing and all are good. Largemouth bass are moving up shallow to spawn and were catching some really nice big bass. White bass are also moving up rivers and tributaries to make their spawn as well with the stripers and hybrids mixed up with them as well. Springtime is the BEST time to fish in central texas and there is very few dates that remain on the schedule. Book your trip today to get the date that you want !

Wide open Early Spring Fising

We have been blessed with a warming trend here in central texas and it has continued to ramp up our fishing. The white bass have been staging at their classic areas to spawn and they are very hungry. These fish provide lots of action and fun and a generally pretty easy to catch which is perfect for kids and novice anglers. The stripers and hybrids havent been too far behind and we are catching those on live bait and the fly. Largemouth bass have also been biting out deep and up shallow. I highly reccommend booking the date you want now because half of march and half of april are already booked up. Midweek morning trips fish the best this time of year. Afternoon trips work well too especially the fly trips in the afternoon.

Fly Fishing Hybrid Striped Bass in Austi

There is no secret that Austin offers some incredible fishing but there is a special lake a short drive from downtown and the airport. Lake Walter E Long or Lake decker as commonly called has a high density population of Largemouth bass and Hybrid Striped bass in both numbers and size! Lake Buchanan has been fishing very well recently but I had a day off from guiding so I am always looking to fish and try new techniques in different waters so I decided to spend a afternoon on lake decker to try fly fishing. With the lake being small in size its easy to cover a lot of water with the flies. Our first big bite came and to my surprise it was a largemouth and a good one too a solid five pounder! We kept covering water and then we got another big bite and this one pulled off a bunch of line and quite the fight later a very large hybrid striped bass 24 inches and 6.5 pounds an absolute blast on the fly tackle. We wound up catching more hybrids and largemouth throughout the rest of the trip a true success on the new fly technique. If you are in the Austin area and want to try something very different and fun book a morning or afternoon fly fishing trip!

Excellent Winter Fishing

Fishing has been great to fantastic throughout january and february. We have been averaging 50-100 plus fish a trip. White bass, Hybrid Striped Bass and Striped bass. Weve been catching our fish on jigging spoons and small swimbaits in 30-60ft of water. Lots of fun and plenty of action for all ages and experience levels. Perfect for those who want to fill their cooler or those who just want to catch a bunch of fish and practice catch and release. Mornings have been cold but afternoon trips have been much warmer and have produced lots of fish. Spring is right around the corner and its time to book those trips and secure a prime spring date before they are gone!

End of year fishing report

While the 2022 fishing year has been great the month of december was incedible for fishing. This past week we have seen massive volumes of fish. I actually havent seen schools this big since spring but this is very typical of striped bass and white bass in winter to gather in large schools. We have been able to spot lock on these big schools and vertical jig chrome spoons and swimbaits to these hungry fish. It has not been uncommon to catch 50-100+ fish on both morning and afternoon trips. While some days may be colder there is still plenty of days of great weather and fantastic fishing. We have been using a wide varitey of techniques including jigging, trolling flies, and alabama rigs. Now is the perfect time to get out on the water. Weekend trips are most popular and this part of year sometimes you have the entire lake to yourself ! Thank you to everyone that came fishing this year !
