Captain Matthew grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina and started off freshwater fishing. After graduating from UNC Greensboro, he moved to Myrtle Beach. He's worked as the manager of the Murrells Inlet Outpost for several years and then as a full-time mate. Captain Matthew got hooked on saltwater fishing after seeing the offshore opportunities that Myrtle Beach had to offer.

    Our trip with The Reel Myrtle Beach Fishing Charters and Captain Matt was absolutely the highlight of our vacation to South Carolina! From the moment we got on the boat, Captain Matt made everyone feel welcome, relaxed, and excited to fish. His knowledge of the local waters and friendly personality made the entire experience unforgettable. We were catching fish, laughing, and making memories the whole trip. The boat was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, and Captain Matt worked hard to make sure everyone had a great time.     Amazing First Chater Experience!

    8 Timers Tur – Offshore 40–50 Miles • 2 voksne

    Captain Matt was an awesome guy to fish with! he was very communicative from the beginning of our trip we had some weather delays but he was still adamant about getting us out on the water! Matts very well versed in his fish species and knowledge if youre not catching them within a few drops hes moving you to a spot that will. we caught a handful of different species and i would definitely charter with matt again if we come back to SC! this was the highlight of my wife and i’s honeymoon thanks again!!!

    Matt will put you on the fish! Fun Trip!

    6 Timers Tur – Offshore 20–30 Miles • 4 voksne

    We booked a 6 hour AM trip with Matt. This got us out in the ocean 35 miles where we hoped to catch some bigger fish. Matt didn’t disappoint. We had 14-16” snapper and grouper in the boat within minutes of setting up to fish. They we out of season so we didnt get to keep those but we also caught trigger fish and other species which we did get to keep. When the bite slowed we moved around to get on fish again. Largest fish of the day was a really nice grouper that was over 20”. His larger 32’ boat was nice to ride in and handled the conditions great. It was an 1.5 hour boat ride where we got to lounge in bean bags and enjoyed the ride. I think we all fell asleep on the ride in/out at some point. Feel confident going with the Reel Myrtle Beach Fishing Charter.

    Its amazing to fish with a Captain that loves his work!! Captain Matt put us on the fish, helped us all at the appropriate level, and cleaned and filleted the fish for us!! super knowledgeable!! We will be going back soon!!

The gulfstream fishing is excellent right now, just this past Thursday we had a dozen mahi, several blackfin snapper, spotted scorpionfish, strawberry grouper, vermillion snapper, porgies, and more. We also hooked up on a marlin when it ate one of our mahi right behind the boat. Don't miss out on some of the best fishing of the year, book your gulfstream trip today!

Plenty of action in the Gulfstream

Gulfstream trips have been very productive throughout February and will continue heating up throughout the month of March. March is the best time of the year for a chance at really big wahoo and can also be excellent for tunas, triggerfish, snapper, black sea bass, and more. We have also been seeing some nice sailfish as well.
