1 Sailfish Caught and Released
Charter Date: August 8, 2026
Charter Length: 6 Hours
Boat: 60' Bertram Blue Sea
Captain: David
Catch: 1 Sailfish Caught and Released
August 8 produced a memorable billfish encounter for Robert, Ashley, Tom, Ava, Gabby, Roman and Wyatt during a six-hour private charter aboard the 60-foot Bertram Blue Sea.
The family traveled from San Francisco for their Cabo vacation and headed offshore with Captain David for a summer fishing adventure. The highlight came when a sailfish entered the action, giving the group an exciting fight before being successfully released back into the Pacific.
Searching for Sailfish While Fishing Offshore From Cabo
A six-hour charter requires the captain and crew to make good use of the available fishing time. Water color, current, bait concentrations, birds and surface activity can all provide clues about where offshore game fish may be holding.
August brings warm water to the Cabo San Lucas region, creating opportunities for several pelagic species.
On this trip, the fish that mattered was the sailfish.
Sailfish are among the Pacific's most exciting game fish because of their speed, powerful runs and spectacular behavior when hooked. Their large dorsal sail also makes them instantly recognizable when they appear near the surface or alongside the boat.
Once the family's fish was hooked, the focus shifted from searching to managing the fight and safely bringing the sailfish alongside.
The encounter concluded with a successful release.

A Family Fishing Experience in Cabo
With seven family members aboard, the sailfish encounter became an experience everyone could share.
One of the advantages of a larger sportfishing boat for a family group is having room for guests to watch the action while the crew manages the cockpit. When a billfish is hooked, activity can increase very quickly as fishing lines are managed and the angler concentrates on the fight.
For younger family members, seeing a sailfish at close range can be especially memorable.
The fish's size, coloration and distinctive sail are difficult to appreciate fully until one is alongside the boat. Watching that same fish swim away after release adds another dimension to the experience.
Six Hours of Fishing and One Memorable Sailfish
Not every successful charter needs a large number of fish.
Sometimes one quality encounter becomes the story of the entire day.
For Robert, Ashley, Tom, Ava, Gabby, Roman and Wyatt, August 8 became a family fishing memory centered around one of Cabo's signature offshore game fish.
Six hours on the Pacific produced one sailfish caught, one sailfish released and a shared experience for a family visiting Cabo San Lucas together.
