Cabo Waters Give the Fishing Crew Three Fish
The Blue Sea left Cabo San Lucas Marina at 6:30 AM with plenty of room for the group of eleven aboard the large Bertram.
The crew incorporated the dredge into the offshore presentation while searching for productive water.
Dorado fishing requires crews to remain observant. Floating debris, weed lines, bait concentrations, current edges, birds and changes in water conditions can all provide clues about where these constantly moving fish may be feeding.
The effort resulted in one dorado for Jay's group.
Two skipjack created additional action during the morning. Skipjack are strong schooling fish known for aggressive strikes and surprisingly powerful fights.
Blue Sky Cabo releases skipjack as part of its standing catch policy. Dorado may be retained.
Cabo December Fishing Remained Productive
Early December 2023 continued to produce offshore activity around Cabo San Lucas. Regional fishing reports from the same period documented dorado along with yellowfin tuna, wahoo and billfish.
Historical water-temperature data for December 4 averages approximately 79.8°F, illustrating how relatively warm water can persist into early winter around Cabo.
Actual conditions vary considerably by fishing area, however, so Captain Alex and the crew continued searching rather than depending on one predetermined location.
That adaptability becomes important on a six-hour charter. Travel time to the grounds and the return trip to Cabo San Lucas Marina both reduce the amount of time available to actively fish.
The 60-foot Blue Sea is particularly well suited to larger private groups. Eleven anglers could spend the morning together on one yacht rather than dividing their fishing experience among multiple boats.
The final catch record was one dorado and two skipjack from six hours on the water.
It was another real-world Cabo fishing day: a large group, professional crew, active dredge presentation and three fish providing the action before the Blue Sea returned to the marina at 12:30 PM.
