Cabo Fishing Search Produces the Target Species
An eight-hour charter provided Captain Alex and crew with additional time to search offshore water.
Marlin fishing requires constant observation because bait and productive water continually move.
The crew watched for surface activity, birds, bait concentrations, current edges and changes in water color while working the offshore spread.
Justin's group elected not to use the optional dredge, so the crew adapted the presentation accordingly.
The search eventually produced a marlin.
Once the fish was hooked, Captain Alex managed the Blue Sea while the crew cleared lines and assisted the angler throughout the fight.
Marlin can combine long runs with sudden changes of direction and powerful jumps, making each encounter unpredictable.
The group successfully completed the fight and brought the fish alongside the yacht.
The marlin was then released.
Blue Sky Cabo maintains a standing policy of releasing all marlin caught aboard its yachts.
Cabo Charter Length Provides Additional Flexibility
The 6:15 AM to 2:15 PM schedule provided eight full hours for the trip.
That matters because offshore travel consumes fishing time in both directions.
When productive water develops farther from Cabo San Lucas Marina, longer charters give captains additional flexibility to search without sacrificing as much active fishing time.
It doesn't guarantee a larger catch.
It provides more options.
For seven adults, the 60-foot Bertram also provided considerable space for the longer day. Guests could fish, enjoy lunch and relax while the crew continued searching for opportunities.
This wasn't a high-numbers fishing day.
Instead, it produced one significant encounter with the species that helped make Cabo San Lucas internationally famous.
Justin and his group boarded the Blue Sea at 6:15 AM, spent eight hours fishing the Pacific with Captain Alex and returned at 2:15 PM having successfully caught and released one marlin.
For many anglers, one marlin is exactly the experience they came to Cabo hoping to have.
