35' Blue Water Riviera – Cabo San Lucas Fishing Report
August 7, 2023
A family from the Edmonton, Alberta area turned an August tuna trip into something particularly memorable when Kaylee and Jason brought their eight-month-old daughter Claire aboard the 35' Blue Water Riviera.
The family departed F Dock at IGY Marina Cabo San Lucas at 6:00 AM for an eight-hour private fishing charter with Captain Oscar. By the scheduled 2:00 PM return, three tuna had been recorded.

August Tuna Fishing in Cabo San Lucas
Tuna were the only species recorded on this eight-hour Cabo fishing charter, making them the clear focus of the day.
These powerful offshore gamefish provide a different battle from many of the dorado commonly encountered during the Cabo summer season.
Once hooked, tuna can use their strength beneath the surface and force an angler to maintain pressure throughout the fight.
For Kaylee and Jason, three tuna meant multiple opportunities during their full-day charter.
Eight Hours Gives the Blue Water Time to Search
A longer Cabo San Lucas fishing charter can provide additional flexibility when targeting mobile offshore species.
Kaylee and Jason booked eight hours aboard the Blue Water, giving Captain Oscar a fishing window stretching from the 6:00 AM departure until 2:00 PM.
Crews searching for tuna can watch for bait concentrations, birds and other signs of offshore activity while evaluating where to spend valuable fishing time.
With lunches aboard for both adults, the family could remain on the water throughout the charter.
Baby Claire Joins the Cabo Adventure
The most distinctive detail from this trip wasn't found on the catch sheet.
Claire was only eight months old.
Having a baby aboard makes safety and comfort particularly important. Blue Sky Cabo carries life jackets including infant and toddler sizes as part of its onboard safety equipment.
A private charter also allowed Kaylee and Jason to spend the fishing day together as a family.
Claire won't remember the details of August 7, 2023, but her parents will have the story of taking her fishing in Cabo San Lucas before her first birthday.
Three Tuna Complete the Family Fishing Day
At 2:00 PM, the 35' Blue Water Riviera returned to F Dock at IGY Marina after the full eight-hour charter.
Three tuna completed the fishing record.
For Kaylee and Jason, however, this Cabo San Lucas charter combined a successful tuna trip with something more personal—the chance to share a full day on the Pacific with their baby daughter.
It was a genuine family fishing experience involving three guests, eight hours on the water and three tuna.
