Cabo Fishing Report Shows Two Species in Five Hours
Five hours creates a very different fishing program from a full-day Cabo charter.
The crew has less time for extended searching, which makes the early 6:00 AM departure valuable. It provides access to the cooler first hours of daylight and leaves the full morning available to locate productive water.
August conditions around Cabo are firmly within the warm-water season, with ocean temperatures commonly reaching the mid-80°F range.
Those temperatures can support several pelagic species, including the two encountered aboard Blue Star.
The marlin produced the major billfish encounter of the morning.
Marlin combine power with surprising speed and can turn a hookup into an aerial fight very quickly. Once the anglers and crew completed the fight, the fish was brought alongside Blue Star and successfully released.
Cabo Charter Fish Action Adds a Dorado
The dorado offered an entirely different fishing experience.
Dorado are built for speed and often spend part of the fight near the surface. Their jumps and rapid direction changes make them exciting on trolling tackle, while their intense green, blue and yellow coloration makes them one of Cabo's most recognizable summer fish.
Having both species appear during the same five-hour window gave the group a useful look at the diversity of August fishing.
Five anglers were aboard for the morning, and lunch was provided for the group.
The shorter charter also meant the scheduled 11:00 AM return occurred before the strongest part of the afternoon heat. For groups wanting a meaningful offshore experience without spending eight hours on the water, this type of morning provides a practical alternative.
Blue Star's August 12 trip was not about producing a long list of fish. The quality came from variety: a Cabo billfish encounter followed by one of the area's signature warm-water game fish.
The marlin was returned to the ocean, while the dorado completed a productive five-hour summer charter for the five anglers aboard the 32' Luhrs.
