Top Fishing Charters in Swansea

Swansea is located in the south of Wales and is on the coast of the Bristol Channel. It’s the second largest city in Wales and the birthplace to famous poet Dylan Thomas. Not only is Swansea home to the Gower Peninsula, which was declared the UK’s first “Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty” in 2019, it also has some great fishing on offer for anglers of all experience levels. You’ll be fishing in Swansea with a stunning natural backdrop behind you, making your trip a memorable one.

What to Expect

A fishing trip in Swansea can take you  bottom fishing in the Bristol Channel or out into the Celtic Sea. This is around a 20 mile ride out and the waters are much clearer here. Once here, you can drop lines and start targeting a range of species.

These will change depending on the season, so there’s always something exciting to catch. Summer fishing will have you targeting a larger range of fish, including Bream, Flatfish, Garfish, Gurnard, and Mackerel. Fish for Whitingand Cod during the winter and for Dogfish Shark during the spring. Anglers catch Bass here throughout the year, but the peak season is during the summer and autumn months. You can also target Conger Eel, Pollack, Ling, and Blue Shark in the Celtic Sea.

Coarse fishing in Swansea will have you casting a line in lakes and ponds such as Fendrod Lake, Half-Round Pond, and Singleton Boating Lake. These hold a variety of fish, including Carp, Perch, Roach, and Bream.

How to Prepare

You won’t need a licence when fishing in saltwater in the UK. When freshwater fishing, you’ll need a licence for everyone over 13. You should bring a packed lunch and drinks with you on your trip and be prepared for rain and cold weather. When using live bait, mackerel, squid, and lugworms will all help you reel in your trophy catch.

Head over to Swansea for a great fishing trip that’s fun for everyone year round.
