Head down to Florida’s Space Coast and hop aboard one of the many Cape Canaveral fishing charters for an angling adventure that’s out of this world! Perfectly positioned between the Atlantic Ocean and the Banana River, you’ll get to cast your line with the Kennedy Space Center serving as an impressive backdrop.

If you’re interested in a real rod-bending adventure, there’s a whole host of famous hard-fighting fish awaiting you out in deeper waters! On a full day trip, you’ll head up to 40 miles out to test your skills against Mahi Mahi, King Mackerel, Wahoo, Blackfin Tuna, Cobia, Amberjack, and Snapper species. These fish fight hard, so bring your best game face.

Cape Canaveral Fishing Seasons

January

There’s no such thing as winter blues in Cape Canaveral, at least if you’re an angler. Look out for Kingfish, Mahi, Sailfish, and Blackfin Tuna offshore (if the winds allow) or Black Drum and Sheepshead inshore.

February

Stay protected from rough waves inshore and fish for Redfish, Trout, and Black Drum. When the weather allows, go offshore for great bites from King Mackerel, Blackfin Tuna, Mahi, and maybe some early Cobia.

March

Everything is going on in March in Cape Canaveral. Inshore, you’ll find Snook joining Trout and Redfish, with Sheepshead over structure and Drum in the lagoon. Fish for Bluefish on the beaches or go offshore for Mahi.

April

Look for Snook around the mangrove islands and docks or go after Spotted Sea Trout in the evening. Offshore, Kingfish come closer to shore and Mahi Mahi and Amberjack are targeted further out.

May

It’s all kicking off nearshore. Tarpon, Bonito, Spanish Mackerel, Jack Crevalle, and Kingfish are biting off the beaches. Offshore, look for Blackfin Tuna, Mahi Mahi, and Wahoo. Don't miss Port Canaveral’s CFOA tournament.

June

June means tournaments and peak fishing season in Cape Canaveral. Watch the pros at the Florida Sport Fishing Association Annual Offshore Slam or head to Port Canaveral for the Canaveral Mac Attack!

July

In July, you’ll find Tarpon and Kingfish swimming along the beaches, with Mangrove Snapper, Spanish Mackerel, and a lot more biting inshore. Take an offshore charter, and look for Sailfish, Wahoo, and Kingfish.

August

Everyone is out enjoying the sunshine. Savor some of the best fishing early in the morning. Look for Redfish, Trout, and Snook, with Tarpon joining the inshore crew. Offshore, you could find Kingfish, Mahi, Wahoo, and Cobia.

September

Get out on the water and look for Bull Reds in the North Indian River, or large Trout and Black Drum closer to home. Cobia is biting near the beaches, with offshore fishing being mostly Kingfish and Amberjack.

October

The weather begins to cool as the month progresses. This is great news for Wahoo and Sailfish, who prefer the cooler water temperatures. Mahi and Kingfish are still biting well, and inshore the Bull Reds are spawning.

November

There is a chance of wind, which can disrupt offshore charters. Don’t let that put you off, though - November is one of the best times to fish in Cape Canaveral. Just wait til you try catching a huge Bull Redfish with light tackle!

December

The big news in December is the Kingfish run. This usually starts off around Thanksgiving and is about the most fun you can have on light tackle. Inshore, look for Pompano and Black Drum near the beaches.
