March

Just in time for spring break, March in Fort Myers Beach sees a whole host of activities and fishing options. From the famous Lions Club Shrimp Festival to the arrival of Cobia nearshore, there is plenty to keep you busy.

April

Tarpon starts to flood into Fort Myers Beach in April. Head out with a spinning rod and practice your sight casting – as long as the winds are calm, you’ll have a wonderful time on the water!

May

The Tarpon season gets serious at this time of year and becomes the priority for the next two months. The nearshore reefs attract Kingfish and Cobia. Don't miss the annual Taste of the Beach festival for some local culinary fare.

The weather gets very hot, particularly in the middle of the day. Stay comfortable by fishing in the early morning or evenings. The Snapper bite is very good offshore and in the Estero River, while Sharks are found all over the flats. 

July

There is some risk of rain in the afternoons from now until September, although the weather remains very hot. Fish around jetties and piers in the early morning, where inshore fish will be hiding out in the cooler water.

August

August is hot in Fort Myers Beach and is a great time to relax on the sugar-sands. Bottom fishing offshore is very good but can be disrupted by afternoon thunderstorms. Watch out – these can materialize at a moment's notice.

September

The weather gradually starts to cool in Fort Myers Beach in September, and although the rains ease, there is still the chance of the odd afternoon storm. The beaches are less crowded and the waterways are active and full of life.

October

October is a transitional month that sees changes in water temperatures and fish behavior. Don't miss the amazing Redfish bite and check out the nearshore waters for Cobia as they migrate south for the winter.

November
