New Orleans fishing charters will take you after the many fish that make this city one of the best in the US for seafood. You’ll have just as much fun chasing your targets as you will eating them! For an inshore fishing adventure that’s unparalleled in a city with fascinating history, look no further than New Orleans.
Explore the local bayous, marshes, and estuaries to find some of the Gulf’s most coveted inshore fish. They’re the perfect habitat for Redfish, Speckled Trout, Black Drum, Flounder, and Jack Crevalle. But it’s not all about saltwater fish, either. New Orleans is also home to some of the state’s best Bass fishing lakes.
Thanks to its warm and humid climate, New Orleans fishing charters operate year-round. How long you’ll spend on the water is up to you. A half day trip gives you a taste of the area’s world-famous inshore waters and sees you go home with a few fish. A full day trip is the equivalent of a seafood tower. You’ll have a variety of choice, from the fish you target to the locations you’ll target them in.
Once you’ve decided where to fish, you can bet there’s a marina or boat ramp close by. New Orleans is surrounded by water after all! Lake Pontchartrain, Lake Borgne, and southern waterways such as the Breton Sound and Black Bay are all popular among local and visiting anglers.
Rules & Regulations
Your charter captain will provide everything you need for a successful day – except for your fishing license. All anglers over the age of 16 are required to purchase one before heading out on the water. Bear in the mind that if you plan to fish south of the “saltwater line” you’ll need to obtain a Louisiana saltwater angler’s license, as well as a basic Louisiana fishing license.
