Definitely consider the type of species you aim to catch. Bigger fish require bigger/deeper water. This of course turns into longer boat rides to the necessary habitat. The time in travel can eat into the scheduled time for your trip. If bringing smaller children, you'll be able to get into feisty smaller fish for sure much sooner. They'll have a fantastic time getting into fish much sooner in the trip and have a very memorable time.

For first timers, try a four-hour nearshore charter, but if you want to deep sea fish you will probably need a full day. We booked with Captain Jayson Self on the King of Kings boat, a 38-footer with covered area and a toilet. Captain Jayson & Juan were very helpful and fun to be with. Having a great captain, crew, and a boat with a covered area and toilet makes for a great trip. We caught 35+ fish which also makes for a great charter!

We woke up to less than ideal weather, low 50°s and cool north winds 15-20mph. We knew these conditions usually slow the fishing down but Si was able to put us on the fish! We caught several species of fish and had a shot on some real nice fish on that ultimately won the fight. Had a delicious lunch with the fish we caught. Would recommend Nelson Guide Company to anyone looking for some inshore or nearshore fishing.

We booked a 4 hour trip with 850 Chsrter. Captain Jared was great. The weather and wine were a little tricky, but he put on the fish. Everyone caught a lot of fish. He definitely knows the spots. We highly recommend Captain Jared and 850 Charter. Hope to go out again soon.

We booked a 6 hour outing with Rewind for this past Saturday. Reid took us out and we caught a ton of vermillion snapper and our limit on triggerfish. Dylan was an amazing deckhand and took great care of our group. We had a blast and Reid and Dylan were awesome. Would recommend them to anyone looking for a fun day on the water!

We had a great trip out with 6 guys. We caught 78 fish, 8 different species. The boat was everything we needed and the crew made our trip one to remember. At times people were catching 2 or 3 fish at once. We had fish cleaned in no time and took it over to brotulas for the freshest lunch I've ever had. Don't be afraid to book, you'll have a great time!

Captain Jayson and Captain Juan worked hard to put us in fish. The highlight of the 4 hour trip was fishing two lines for sharks. My 16 year old grandson landed a (75 lb.) blacktip. We had another larger shark on simultaneously, but it got off. Great fun and memories.

Captain Chris got us on fish and Denis and Brian educated and were quick to help. Vermillion snapper was the target and we got a lot. Best part was taking the filets over to The edge restaurant next door and they cooked all 10 lbs up for us. Blackened snapper was so good. For those looking for a business event in short time Big John’s made it a breeze to get on fish and have fun.

Awesome Captain. Told us stories about the history of the area. Show us details about lots of different fish and how some of them get their names. Very knowledgeable, personable and friendly Captain. I took my 10 year old autistic grandson on the sunset shark targeted fishing trip. Our captain was so patient and encouraging. We caught 2 sharks and saw several dolphins. This is a trip my grandson will remember for the rest of his life.
