Fishing in Grapevine Lake
When you’re looking for a perfect weekend getaway with your friends and family, booking a fishing guide at Lake Grapevine is one of the best ways to spend your time. Just a 40-minute drive from Dallas and Fort Worth, you’ll find yourself on a gorgeous shoreline, surrounded by waters where the fishing keeps going year round. With enough knowledgeable guides in the area, even novices can pick up a rod and catch some lunch.
Lake Grapevine is smaller than other lakes in the area, but rivals them when it comes to fishing action. You can go after several types of Bass, such as White, Hybrid, Striped, and mainly Largemouth. There’s also a surprising amount of Blue Catfish that love the lake’s structure, especially around the dam area. If catfishing is your thing, you can also catch Channel and Flathead Catfish here. Last but not least, catch tasty Crappie that love to swim near boat houses.
If you’re taking a trip with your kids, a half day trip may be just what you need. Most anglers offer both morning and afternoon options, so you just need to decide what time fits better for you. An eight-hour trip will give you enough time to improve your game by the end of the day and maybe even catch a trophy-sized fish.
For your fishing trip at Grapevine Lake you only need to purchase a freshwater license. Your equipment is covered by your guide and most of them will clean your catch free of charge. After your trip, enjoy the catch in one of the lake’s restaurants.
Grapevine Lake Fishing Seasons
Start this year by going after Largemouth and Hybrid Bass. There’s not a lot of visitors in January, so you can fish in peace and quiet.
Go after Largemouth, White, or Hybrid Bass in February. The best place to start is to find groups of Seagulls resting on the water.
Catfishing is great in March and this is just the beginning of the peak season. Get ready for some amazing bottom fishing!
You’ll have a blast targeting Catfish but don’t forget that Crappie fishing is great too, especially if you don’t have a lot of experience.
With huge amounts of Striped and Hybrid Bass, Crappie, and Catfish, May is probably the best month for fishing at Lake Grapevine.
Crappie fishing is great, you just need to look around underwater timber. They are the most delicious Panfish, so don’t miss out!
There’s still lots of Catfish, Crappie, and Hybrid Bass to catch, you just need to go to deeper water for them.
Bass, Crappie, and Catfish still hide at the bottom and in the underwater forests, so prepare for some bottom fishing action.
Look for Hybrid and White Bass at rocky shorelines or drop-offs. For better results, take a full day trip.
Striper and Catfish are the best targets in October. With lower temperatures, it’s easier to find them in shallow water.
If you’re aiming for Striper, this is a good time to take a trip. Other species are here as well, just in lower numbers.
There’s more Hybrid Bass in December and it’s a good target for your trip. Don’t forget Striper as well!
