Marlin (Blue) Fishing in Cape Verde
Although Cape Verde is just becoming known as a charter fishing destination it is emerging as one of the best Blue Marlin spots in the world. The fish here can vary greatly in size, with both 900 lbs plus and small specimens weighing roughly 300 lbs common. They are incredibly prolific in season, with many fishing boats hooking multiple Marlins in a day.
Blue Marlins congregate at the exit of the channel between Santo Antao and Sao Vincente, where large drop offs make for perfect conditions for them close to shore. The waters off Sal are also extremely productive, and when conditions allow fishing around Pedro Bank is some of the best in the world.
- Marlin (Blue) fishing in Cape Verde varies moderately throughout the year. High season is March to August. Low season is January and November to December. There is no closed season.
