When you’re not targeting this behemoth, you can enjoy good sport fishing for Black Marlin, as well.
When to Target Marlin
Anglers can enjoy Marlin fishing in Mauritius any time of year. Summer lasts from November to April, and this is the ideal time for targeting Blue Marlin. While you can find Blues biting as early as September, they are most prevalent from December through March. Meanwhile, Black Marlin are most active in winter, with a peak season between May and November.
How to Target Marlin
The most common method for Marlin is trolling with heavy tackle. Many fishermen find slow trolling live baits to be effective, though some prefer to use lures.

The best Blue Marlin season even though it is still hard to catch. Fortunately full day fishing you can catch something else too. At least for us sea conditions were nice but sun is really burning. Better got a boat with suncover.

Donยดt expect to catch always Blue Marlen, we got a 21.3 kg Giant Trevallor and it was picked up for Restaurant after taking Picture. The Ocean has many surprises and this is what you should looking for.
Perhaps the list of fishes to be cought there should be Extended after that catch.

Check with the captain about keeping the catch or not. If you want to keep the catch you will probably have to pay for it. Bad practice, but common in Mauritius.

The skipper (Kevin) and crew are friendly and try everything to put you in the fish. All of the equipment is top of the line and looked after. The boat is fast to get you to your locations quicker and has everything on it you need for an enjoyable day out.

Hang in there, stick to your plan of targeted species. I was targeting big blue marlin. We had 1 knockdown the first 3 days of fishing. On day 4 we raised 3 marlin and got this one.
