When visiting the quaint community of Lakeside Marblehead, OH, be sure to take some photos of the local lighthouse, and of course, use the opportunity to do some fishing on Lake Erie. Chelsea Charters will gladly provide you with fishing trips so you can spend a fun day on the water. Their captains are highly experienced and they'll do their best to share their knowledge and enthusiasm with you.
A single fishing trip can take groups of 6 guests or less. You'll be gliding on lake waters on board a 30' Island Hopper offshore sportfishing model from 1986, which was refurbished in 2013. During your fishing adventure, you can listen to some tunes on the onboard multimedia system. The boat can reach a top speed of 28 knots with its single QSB engine.
Chelsea Charters specializes in fishing on Lake Erie. Although you could fish all year round, your biggest chances of getting your catch are during the summer months and early fall. You can go after Yellow Perch, and delicious Walleye and Smallmouth Bass. When it comes to fishing techniques you can practice light tackle, trolling, spinning, and jigging.
Anglers should acquire their Ohio fishing license before they come aboard. However, you don't have to worry about the fishing gear and lures, as they will be waiting. For your greater comfort, there's an onboard bathroom available. If you get lucky you can keep your catch.

Thanks to Josh and his wife!!!! I booked this charter for my husband and my dad, as a gift for my dad’s birthday, not knowing what I was looking for and with absolutely no intentions of going myself. I felt some peer pressure from my mom, she just wanted to be on the boat to catch some sun. We ended up going with the guys and we all had so much fun! It was a little slow at first and hard to get a few in the boat, but once we hit a good spot, it was one fish after another. My dad is The Shepherd reeling in sheep head and white bass hand over fist, lol. I didn’t want to go as I’m a red head with fair skin and didn’t want to be an Erie Lobster…well….we all had a great time, I didn’t get sick, I didn’t get burnt, and we caught our boat limit of walleye! 10/10 would recommend and WILL do again! Thanks again Josh!
Thank you for choosing us for your first walleye charter on lake erie. We had fun also was a wonderful afternoon and look forward to getting your group back out to do it again.
Booked for a Walleye trip for 2 dads and 3 older kids, but as the walleye weren’t biting, went for perch instead. Easy as can be, all we needed is our cooler for drinks and snacks, our cooler for fish, and they supplied the rest. Was a little bit of a learning curve on catching the perch with his technique but he put us where the fish were and caught a bunch. He let us be as hands on or hands off as we liked. Don’t let his age fool you, he’s an experienced captain with a passion for it. Had a great time. We will certainly book with him the next time we need to charter and looking forward to it. We went out two days jigging for walleye. Capt. Jo did a great job putting us on fish even when the weather was a little rough the first day. Second day we had beautiful weather and limited out in a few hours. We had a great time and plan to do it again.
Josh and Ruby were great guides as my family got to experience Lake Erie for the first time. As a group we had limited experience fishing but they took care of everything. My kids were amazed at how many fish they were able to catch and the size of them. I even got an idea for a steelhead appetizer from them that I’m gonna use when we have our fish fry!
