Thorny's Salmon and Trout Trip 

I have been fishing for over 20 years and have gone on several guided trips in multiple countries, for many types of fish. I only share this to add some level of veracity to my statement. Captain Thorne was genuinely incredible. He was responsive over chat and by phone. He was extremely accommodating for my interests in what species we were targeting and how. He was very frank and informative about our expectations, and why he felt these were the case (the results were even better, which is always nice). His mate Joey and him clearly have an abundance of experience and just genuinely good people. I already booked a second trip because it was just so positive, for a litany of reasons beyond the fishing itself. I learned an incredible amount about Lake Champlain despite already fishing it for over 5 years intensely, which anyone should expect given Captain Thorne's lifetime of fishing experience and immense respect for the fish, and knowledge of the craft. I would recommend to anyone interested in fishing, regardless of their experience level.

I recently took my children on a fishing charter with Captain Rob, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. Rob was incredibly accommodating, offering flexibility with our departure time and maintaining excellent communication throughout the entire process. Both Rob and his first mate (Matt) were friendly, professional, and absolutely fantastic with my children. Rob was especially patient taking the time to teach them, answer their questions, and help them learn throughout the trip. His enthusiasm and encouragement, made the experience even more exciting for them and kept them engaged the entire time. They were punctual, well prepared, and made sure everyone felt comfortable and had a great time on the water. One thing that really stood out was that the Captain cleaned and filleted all of our fish for us to take home afterward. This was a huge help and greatly appreciated. Overall, this was a wonderful family experience, and I would not hesitate to book with Rob again and we are looking forward to trying a different season and fishery. I highly, highly recommend this charter to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, professional, and family, friendly, fishing experience!

We've never fished Champlain and wanted to hook into lake trout and salmon during our week trip here, trying to figure ot out ourselves would've been impossible. Captain Thorny was fantastic, put is on lakers within 10 minutes, then great fishing the rest of the day. Took us to the special spot for salmon and sure enough, bam, bam bam. Jumping out of the water, great fights, tons of fun. His knowlegde of the lake, the fisheries and its ecosystem was super interesting to hear. Really nice, a pleasure to be on the boat with him and mate Matt. Highly recommended.

We booked this fishing trip on a whim when we were visiting Vermont and we are so happy we did! From the start, communication was great. Rob and Matt were intelligent, informative, helpful and really enjoyed what they do. They made the experience completely enjoyable and stress free. We had an absolutely beautiful day on the water catching a total of 20+ fish (salmon and lake trout). Rob even cleaned and filleted our fish so we could take them home to eat. We had a blast and we are already trying to plan the next fishing trip with them!

The day was expected to be the hottest day of the year, reaching in the upper 90s. We decided to get an early start at 5 AM. The weather turned out amazing. With the early start we missed the heat. The salmon were not biting. So we moved to lake trout and caught lots of lake trout, with the largest one just short of eleven pounds. Doubled up at times. Captain Rob and Shaun took great care of me and worked very hard to make it a great day. I highly recommend them.
