Captain Derick Thrappas is a Maryland native who obtained his USCG 100-ton license at the young age of 19. He has a very diverse background in the marine industry. Serving in the Coast Guard for over 22 years and counting, being stationed up and down the east coast has allowed him to work on charter boats all over Florida, Maryland, and Virginia.

    Fantastic Fishing Trip - Highly Recommend!

    We had a great time fishing with Captain and his mate! They were both friendly, professional, and made the trip enjoyable from start to finish. The captain's experience really showed and we felt safe with him. While the boat was comfortable and stable, the toilet could have used some cleaning, but that didn't take away from an otherwise excellent experience. Overall, this was a fantastic fishing trip, and I would absolutely recommend this captain to friends and family. If you're looking for someone who knows where the fish are and provides a great experience on the water, you won't be disappointed.

    Best trip ever!

    My wife and I were visiting our daughter and her boyfriend and wanted to take them fishing out in the bay. The captain and crew were amazing and put us on fish right away. Caught LOTS of fish. Several times we had multiple people catching fish at the same time and often had 2 fish on the same pole! The next day after fishing, my daughter told me that her arms were sore from catching so many fish. It was one of the best fishing trips I've ever taken.

    Great afternoon on the Chesapeake

    Captain Derek had a conflict, however he was able to get a replacement from another local Captain to fill in. The First Mate was fantastic. He fillet our catch, and even took some to the Dock of the Bay Restaurant to cook it up for us. Fantastic way to spend our afternoon!

    good day on the water, the captain and mate were knowledgeable about the best spots for fishing locally. caught a mix of catfish, rockfish, perch, spot, and even a ray. good atmosphere, learned a lot, and came home with plenty of cleaned fish to eat. would recommend, will look into booking again.

    3 Generations on a trip

    Three generations on a trip Pappy, Son, Grandson (8). We got plenty of fish and crew was very knowledgeable. They definitely knew the layout and what they were doing. They took time to clean and fillet so that the restaurant at the dock could cook the freshest fish we've ever had. Would highly recommend

The catch and keep season opens in the entire bay on june 1 including the rivers and fishing the rivers has been producing double digit #s !. Be sure to book with us to take advantage of our hook n cook options with our departing restaurant. Lets go fishing

Fishing has been pretty good for us the kast couple of weeks. We kook forward to june 1st and the opening of the rivers and live bait season. We still have availability in late may, june and july lets go fishing!

Rockfishing has been lights out as good as it gets , come and see us next weekend or in August, it wont be long before we were wishing we could go fishing during the winter!

Thenpast few weeks have provided some exceptional fishing with ewrly limits! We are transitioning to our summer season and tactics. Be sure to get out and get out and enjoy the chesapeake! We are offering hook and cook for your catch after the trip from @ dock of the bay resteraunt, its been a huge success!
