My wife and I had an absolutely great time! We booked a 4 hour morning trip and Captain Austin was as friendly as can be also extremely helpful, professional and knowledgeable. Most importantly he had us catching fish throughout the whole trip from the first cast to the very last. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking to fish in the lower NYC area and will most likely book another trip with him when we come back. 5 Stars!

We took a chance spending one of our precious New York days out on the water instead of sightseeing, shopping or dining and it turned out to be one of the best decisions of our entire trip. I went fishing with Captain Austin and my two boys (9 and 11 years old), and it was absolutely epic. Austin is not only a master fisherman who knows Jamaica Bay like the back of his hand, but also an incredible teacher and guide, especially with kids. He was patient, kind, and turned every moment into an opportunity for my boys to learn, cast, reel, and have fun. Everything about the experience was smooth, safe, and unforgettable. The views of Manhattan and Brooklyn from the bay are breathtaking, and the thrill of catching fish made it even better. My kids were beyond excited, and as a parent, watching their faces light up every time they felt a bite is something I’ll never forget. After all the amazing things we did in New York — Times Square, Central Park, the musicals, shopping — this trip with Austin stands out as the most special moment of our vacation. The service, the attention to detail, the calm atmosphere on the water… it’s simply 100 out of 100. If you’re in New York with family, kids, or even a group of friends, don’t miss this experience. would recommend Austin 100% my husband and I took our son. Our son had a wonderful time. We had a good laugh, catching some fish and catching some new fish that we hadn’t seen before. It was an awesome morning on the water. My son and husband have done lots of fishing trips and thought Austin was pretty awesome himself.

Capt Austin was a great guide! Excellent communication and made me and my son feel incredibly welcomed. We tried several fishing spots, and caught new species of fish that made my son quite happy! Great for anyone, but I especially recommend for those with kids. Highly recommended!!

Epic afternoon with Austin. He was fun, knowledgeable, kept us where we needed to be to keep the rods bent. Whole fanily had a blast. Brought in 15 fish between the four of us. Will definitely book wirh Austin again.

As a visitor to New York, I wanted something more than city streets and skyscrapers — and Austin Outfitters delivered just that. In just one trip, we caught 15+ fish including beautiful Summer Flounder, and spent a blissful day immersed in nature. Captain Austin is a consummate professional: knowledgeable, passionate, and kind, with over 20 years of experience and a spotless, well-run operation. It’s amazing how close New Yorkers are to the water, yet how few truly enjoy it — sometimes it takes a visitor to show how much fun is waiting just offshore. If you’re in the city and want a unique experience that feeds the soul (and the family), this is it. 10/10 — highly recommended.

In planning a family trip to NYC, our fishing-loving 11 year old son asked if we could go on a fishing excursion. While a bit unusual considering all of our other tourist destinations (first time in NYC for our boys), we were up for giving it a try. Wow, Austin Outfitters made our trip! Captain Austin was very helpful through the booking process and a great communicator all along the way - super responsive to all of our questions via the app. The best part, we just showed up to the marina and he had everything handled. He asked good questions about what experience we were looking for, and got us on the fish right away. Our two boys had a great time pulling in multiple kinds of fish. He also provided interesting information about the fish species, tides, weather, etc. Overall, Captain Austin is a great guy who loves NY and loves fishing. We would highly recommended Austin Outfitters!

Captain Austin was the best guide I’ve sailed with hands down. From his personable easy text and email communications, to the gator blues we got into, to the late night fillet station he pitched in the dark, to the fact that when I got turned around trying to get to the dock… he came and picked me up in Flatbush and got me to the dock in his own car. Wow. What can I say? He’s a good guy with a comprehensive understanding of fishing the area. The trip was a classic. I can’t recommend him enough. Thanks Austin!

My son and I had a wonderful time with Captain Austin. He's an excellent fisherman, does a great job of getting you in position to catch fish, and is very engaging. Caught multiple species and learned a lot about the local fishing grounds. Highly recommend anyone interested in fishing the waters around NYC to connect with Captain Austin and enjoy an awesome trip!
