Captain Ryan took my wife and I out to catch sharks and he didn’t disappoint.. we caught 9 of them all within 4 hours! Ryan’s an absolute animal and really knows his stuff. Very friendly, trustworthy and accommodating. This would be a great trip for really anyone who wants to see a shark up close and have a once in a lifetime experience. Can wait to come back and do it again next year! Thank you again!

From booking the trip to the communication leading up to the day of the charter, Captain Ryan with Captains Js Charters was very professional and easy to deal with! The overall experience was nothing short of exceptional and Captain Ryan made sure that everyone was comfortable, safe, and having a great time! On top of that we caught a variety of fish including some yellowtail, snapper, a remora, a 4’ Goliath Grouper and a “once in a lifetime” 10’ LEMON SHARK! perfect day! the captain was amazing we caught a lemon shark and goliath grouper! storm came but the captain made us feel safe and we continued fishing and ended up with an incredible fishing story. would highly recommended this charter!

captain was great . very knowledgeable and informative on everything. got us on some good fish and even rode by some dolphins that were on the way back to the dock.

I've been on many fishing trips so know pretty fully what to expect. Success is always welcome, but not necessarily expected. Captain Ryan was knowledgeable and definitely has been around fishing, though perhaps a bit one dimensional. I originally booked a tarpon fishing trip, but in speaking with him by phone the night before, opted to fish the reef instead. He was very open that the day prior had been a slow bite, and even saying those clients were a bit upset at not catching more. From the start, there was some miscommunication about where to find a pinfish trap (the one we found was empty) and a bit too much "information" about clients and the charter service It ended up being pretty rough and was tossing the boat around pretty good. My wife was feeling pretty rough but stuck it out. It was too rough for her to properly reel from a sitting position. And she was worried that she could not reel nearly as fast as he said was needed. (said we would be sharked and did not want to blow up this spot) In hindsight, I should have asked to move towards 7 mile bridge or other calmer water. Many boats were fishing there as we came in, and it was much calmer. While walking the bridge earlier in the week we saw boats land a grouper and several other fish. We spotted snook, shark, and many species of marine life which was very cool! We anchored at one spot, chummed and stayed put. I did land 1 yellow tail, 1 houndfish, and Capt. Ryan landed a beautiful blue parrot fish. My first hookup felt pretty good and was either sharked or the line cut. My other lost fish was cut at the knot. Probably rubbed by a tooth. Capt. Ryan seemed quick to blame his (past and present) clients for their failures including why my string was so poorly wound. He said he was going to text the prior client about messing it up. I had to let almost the entire spool out to rewind it. No biggie...we were letting our baited lines anyway. You can't control the weather, nor the bite, but you can provide a good positive experience. That is where it fell a bit short.
