Big Hali for Big Fish Chuck! We spent the afternoon yesterday with our guest celebrating his birthday fishing for halibut. Well the tide finally switched and we got big hits on both our front lines within a minute or two from each other. They didnt stick until commiting to the salmon head, fresh octopus (recently caught) and herring platter we had on our back line another minute after rhe first two. Well this fish peeled a 100ft of line before giving our guest a chance to play it perfectly to the boat..which he did. Well done sir. Porpoises were putting on a show for us all day while we were on anchor comjng within 20 ft of the boat chansing bait on the surface. We cant say enough about our local fall/winter fishing here in Sooke. Send us a trip inquiry if you have any questions or want some help planning were happy to help. Dont miss out on this productive winter halibut fishing opportunity. Bring the crew and lets get on em. See you on the water. King Tide Crew

Ville definitivt bestilt igjen.

Insane Halibut Action! We had a crazy halibut bite on an afternoon this week! After landing our first Halibut still in the net our second rod got hammered and was peeling line. Guests were able to get the second fish to the boat both a perfect 107cm and 104cm. Just as we were getting ready to head back and pull our anchor...a MEGA fish hammered our whole yellow tail and burned under the boat tangling around our chum back and breaking another line clean off. This fish got us into our backing before coming back to the boat for a leader release. The Halibut was close to 100lbs...a serious unit. Guests enjoyed an incredible sunset on the run back. HOG-tober at its finest!

HOG-toberfest! These guys cleaned up! Our guests landed today and walked off the plane feeling like it was summer in mid October. The weather couldnt have been better and Captain Shane put these guys on the Halibut. The action was hot and heavy with a double header and both rods going off at once followed by a stomper of a turkey. Great energy on the boat and great day on the water.

Halibut fishing in British Columbia, Canada draws anglers for big, hard-fighting Flatfish. Cold, nutrient-rich Pacific waters grow strong Pacific Halibut, and they hold tight to reefs, ledges, and sandy drop-offs along this wild coast.

Most trips use bottom fishing with heavy tackle to keep baits near the seafloor. Captains anchor or drift over structure and watch the tide. Jigging, which means lifting and dropping a metal lure, also works well. Common baits include Herring, Salmon belly, and Octopus.

Expect an early start and a steady run to the grounds. Bites can be subtle, but the fight is real once the hook sets. This is great for first-timers and seasoned anglers alike. Your captain provides quality gear and guidance. Bring warm layers, a rain jacket, non-slip shoes, snacks, and sun protection. Many crews can clean your catch after the trip.

British Columbia’s top Halibut areas stretch along the outer coast. The west side of Vancouver Island is famous, with productive grounds off Tofino, Ucluelet, Port Renfrew, Sooke, and Victoria. Farther north, Haida Gwaii, the Central Coast, and waters near Prince Rupert offer consistent action. Productive channels like Juan de Fuca Strait and Queen Charlotte Sound also see good fish when tides line up.

Before you go, review local fishing license rules and area regulations. Seasons, gear rules, and harvest limits can change by area and year. Your captain will help you follow current rules, but every angler should check official guidance for the latest information.

    (HOG-tober Fest! - 6hr Halibut Trip)

    Great trip!

Had a good trip with Captain Andrew, we managed to snag ourselves a really nice halibut! We unfortunately weren’t able to go salmon trolling on the way back due to some equipment issues. It was a special request that they tried to accommodate. Would definitely book again.
