Lobster are prized crustaceans known for firm, sweet meat and a real hands-on chase. Anglers target them for the thrill of checking gear and the delicious reward. You will usually search around reefs, rocks, kelp, and wrecks, often after sunset.

Common methods include baited traps or pots set on the bottom. Many anglers also use hoop nets, which are drop nets lifted straight up to catch crawling Lobster. In some places, divers take Lobster by hand or with a simple snare, where allowed by law.

Expect a steady, team-focused trip with frequent checks of gear. Conditions are usually inshore or nearshore, with calm, protected waters on many outings. Night trips are popular because Lobster move more after dark. Bring warm layers, non-slip shoes, gloves, and a cooler with ice. A headlamp helps on evening runs, and many crews provide tackle, bait, and safety gear.

Rules for Lobster fishing change by location. Always check local fishing license and permit needs before you go. Review open seasons, area closures, gear rules, size limits, and daily harvest limits for your spot. Some areas require measuring every Lobster and releasing egg-bearing females. When in doubt, ask your captain and follow current regulations.
