Captain Jared has been fishing Louisiana coastal waters his entire life. He got into the charter industry as a way to give back his knowledge and skills to those interested in what anglers do down south, on the water.

Paul Caston and his crew were back down for another annual trip, and it’s always a pleasure having them aboard. Over the past few years, the group has enjoyed focusing on redfish, so we stayed with the plan and targeted reds once again. The morning started a little slow while we waited for the tide to begin moving, but once the water picked up, the fishing followed. Everyone had a great time reeling in fish and enjoying another day in the Louisiana marsh. Paul, thank you for another successful trip and for the many years of continued business. Repeat guests and long-term relationships are what make this job so rewarding. Looking forward to the next one!

Some trips are all about covering miles. This wasn’t one of them. While helping Capt. Travis Miller with another great crew, we found what we were looking for at our very first stop. The trout weren’t biting every cast, but they kept coming steadily enough that there was never a reason to leave. About two hours later, the crew had 45 speckled trout in the box, all from the same location. Days like this are a good reminder that patience can be just as important as finding the fish. We had a great crew, a steady bite, and another successful morning in the Louisiana marsh.

Day 2 was all about earning every fish. We focused exclusively on redfish, but they weren’t giving themselves up easily. It was one of those days where every move mattered. We covered water, made adjustments, stayed patient, and never gave up. That persistence paid off. By the final stretch of the trip, Steve and Nick had put together a full limit of redfish. Honestly, those are some of my favorite days as a guide. When you have a crew that’s willing to stay positive and keep fishing, it’s incredibly rewarding to see everything come together in the end. Steve and Nick, thanks again for another great couple of days. I appreciate your continued trust and can’t wait to do it again.

Day 1 was a special one. One of my longtime returning guests, Steve, was back for another trip, and this time he brought his son, Nick Bekeleski, along for his first experience fishing the Louisiana marsh. I always enjoy introducing someone new to what makes Sportsman’s Paradise so special, and Nick picked a great day to join us. The puppy drum were fired up, keeping us busy most of the morning, and we added a couple of nice redfish to round out the trip. Steve, thank you for the many years of support, friendship, and trust you’ve placed in me. Repeat customers like you mean more than you know, and it was a pleasure spending another day on the water with you and Nick. Looking forward to the next trip!

Day 2 was a great way to wrap up the trip. The crew picked up right where they left off, finding another excellent speckled trout bite and staying busy throughout the morning. Once we had a solid box of trout, we spent the rest of the trip chasing a few slot redfish to add even more excitement. Two days of steady action, quality fish, and a fantastic group made this trip one we’ll remember for a long time. We appreciate everyone for spending their time on the water with us and hope to see them back in South Louisiana again soon!

Day 1 couldn’t have started much better. The crew got to experience an incredible speckled trout bite, with fish coming over the rail at a steady pace until we had a great box put together. Since we still had plenty of time left in the morning, we decided to go looking for a little more excitement. We switched gears and targeted redfish, and the guys were rewarded with several beautiful slot reds to round out the trip. It’s hard to beat a day where you can catch multiple species and keep the action going from start to finish. Thanks to this awesome crew for spending the day on the water with us. Looking forward to Day 2!

Another great day with the Gainnie Lumber crew! This trip had all the ingredients for a fun morning—calm water, cooperative speckled trout, and a great group of anglers. The crew stayed busy throughout the trip, putting together a nice box of quality trout while enjoying everything South Louisiana has to offer. We always appreciate the opportunity to fish with the Gainnie Lumber team and are grateful for their continued business. Looking forward to the next trip!

Day 2 with Frank McCreery and his family was a perfect way to wrap up their trip. The trout stayed hungry, keeping everyone busy throughout the morning. Before heading in, we decided to add a little more excitement by hooking into a couple of bull redfish. There’s nothing quite like hearing the drag scream after a morning of catching trout. It was great having Frank and his family back after all these years. Seeing returning guests leave with smiles, coolers full of fish, and new memories is one of the best parts of this job. Thank you again for making the trip from Virginia. I hope it won’t be long before we do it all again!

Day 1 with Frank McCreery and his family was one I had been looking forward to. Frank and his family traveled down from Virginia and hadn’t fished with me in several years. It’s always special when returning guests come back after a long break, and this trip picked up right where the last one left off. Once we figured out the pattern, everyone got in on steady action and caught some quality fish. Watching families reconnect over a great day on the water is one of the best parts of being a guide. Frank, thank you and your family for making the trip back to South Louisiana. It was a pleasure having y’all aboard again, and I hope it won’t be as long before the next visit!
