Capt. John has been fishing ever since he was a boy. First taught to fish by his Dad, he grew up absorbing the various techniques and methods of the anglers around him, giving him a large amount of experience in different ways of fishing. He has been chartering for quite a few years and loves to pass on his knowledge to his guests.

    Kaptein John var veldig lett å snakke med, og sønnen min og jeg hadde det kjempegøy. Vi fanget Speckled Trout og hvit ørret. Været var nydelig og det var en god opplevelse fra start til slutt. Vi kommer definitivt tilbake!

Etter hvert som vannet begynner å kjølne, begynner store Wahoo å dukke opp i nærliggende farvann igjen. Tunfisk (Gulfinnet) begynner å komme nærmere land når de forbereder seg på å gyte. Du kan fange en stor en, men ikke like konsekvent.

It was a Fin-tastic day on the water with Kacey & Erin. They caught a bunch of sheepshead, trout, and some bulls. It's always a great time when you take a break from your everyday hustle of work and actually Live-a-little. Thanks again, ladies! Now is the time for catching the hard pulling & great tasting sheepshead! Give me a call if you're ready for your own Fin-tastic Charter!

Great spring break trip!

Had a great day on the water with this father & son duo from Dallas on their spring break fishing trip! They were able to box their limit of trout and caught a few reds & sheepshead as well! Thanks again for coming fishing with me! Enjoy y'alls catch!

Grand Isle Trout Action!!!

May 6, 2017 • grand Isle
This morning we loaded the boat and headed out at our usual time of 5:30 to get a jump on the early morming bite. We took a anxious 10 min ride to the stomping grounds. It was non-stop action catching trout cast after cast with the occasional redfish in the mix. By 10 we had our 150 trout and 6 redfish. We took the scenic route back to the dock and enjoyed some great fish stories while cleaned and bagged the filets. Thanks again guys for coming fishing with Fin-tastic Charters.

Spring Bite

Today was a fabulous day on the water. The day started out great and got better as it went on. We were blessed with a mild breeze for a change, which allowed us to get out to the honey hole. We were using live shrimp under a popping cork and caught our limit of 125 beautiful big trout by 11:00. It was a picture perfect day. It don't always happen this way, but today was one of those special moments in life that makes memories that last a lifetime.

Fun February Trip

Feb 8, 2017 • grand Isle
Today our trip started out with plenty of fog, but we took our time and made our way to the first fishing hot-spot. We were using a mixture of live shrimp and plastic minnows under a popping cork. In no time Timothy and Preston were reeling in some beautiful Grand Isle speckled trout. But unfortunately a weather front was coming through causing the wind to start blowing hard and the tide to start running out fast. Soon the trout bite was off and we moved into protected waters and hit the next 3 spots with the same result. The trout just refused to bite in the weather conditions. So we changed our target and went for redfish. We pulled into one of my favorite redfish holes and presented live shrimp (Caroline rigged) in front of the rock structure. We were laughing, cutting up and having a good Ole time reeling in the reds. We caught 21 reds, but were only able to boat 6 due to the rest were 1/2" under legal size. But soon the weather turned worst and we had to make out way back to the marina while the seas permitted. We ended up with 25 beautiful specks and 6 reds. Not a bad trip for February. And we made friends and memories that will last a lifetime. Thanks again to Timothy and Preston for choosing me to bring y'all fishing to catch yall's first speckled trout and redfish.
