Hey there everyone, Capt. Vinnie here, with another Fort Lauderdale deep sea fishing report for all of you. So for this week I would have to say the theme of the report is going to be honestly, now with that being said I would like to point out that in all reports I do my very best to give you the most honest and accurate report that I can, meaning good, and bad. Not every week the fishing is outstanding like others may make it seem it still is fishing after all and things change daily. Moving on to what you really came here for.... The report this week has been hit and miss meaning some days fishing is good and other days it has been a real grind and i think majority of what is making it a grind is the seaweed. If you have been watching the news or even social media I am sure you have seen a video or two of the beaches full of seaweed. Some days what's on the beach is on the fishing grounds before it gets to the beach. When the seaweed is on the fishing grounds it really makes it tough to troll and catch fish, you do get rewarded at times for grinding it out and fishing through the seaweed but it really is tough on the crew. As far as what has been biting lately on the reef there has been a scattered amount of king mackerel biting trolling baits fished below the surface and mixed in with them has been some bonitos. Kingfish are going to be caught on sea witches and bonito strips and the bonito are going to bite best on a drone spoon in the blue color. Moving just off the reef there has been some blackfin tunas, but they have been deeper then normal around 400 feet. Smaller baits are going to be best due to the bait they are eating naturally. Small baits would include squid skirts, spoons, or lures under 2 inches. The tuna have been active in the mornings but the afternoons seem to be more productive. For an offshore report this week the mahi have been biting pretty well but you do need a trip longer then 4 hours if you want to target mahi I suggest 6 or even 8 hours. There has been some nice weed patches out there as well as some floating debris which I have a photo I took of a floating wood pallet. This pallet that we found didn't have a bunch of mahi on it but it did have wahoo which in my opinion is better then mahi. That goes to show you never know and it always pays to be ready. Last but not least we did some bottom fishing this week with some old friends catching some really nice snowy and yellow edge grouper. In my opinion these types of grouper are the absolute best tasting fish in the ocean, they are somewhat rare and live in deep water where there is structure, they are a fish that is hush hush in the fishing industry. We were lucky enough to have the correct conditions to fish for these great fish and to get to catch them with some great friends brings it all together. The season is now closed on these deep water gems till next year. This week please take a minute to check out some of the great photos of some recent catches that were caught while out on our deep sea fishing charters and remember to give us a like and follow "Ybnormalsportfishing" on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram for daily fishing content. Coming up for the next few weeks I would expect the mahi bite to keep improving more and more as we reach the heat of summer, I also think we would start to see more and more kingfish daily as long as the seaweed stays controlled but that is a day to day basis so I am sending my prayers out now. Bottom fishing for yellowtail snapper should come into play soon as well so be on the look out in future reports, for the next few weeks availability is good if your looking to get out deep sea fishing, we have plenty of openings and trip selections to suit anyones needs, so look up YB Normal serving Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood and Dania beach. Fishing Is Still HOT
Fishing Is Still HOT
oktober 30, 2026
Hey there Capt. Vinnie here back again with another Fort Lauderdale deep sea fishing report. This week we have a similar theme as last with mahi mahi being the highlight. Right now I personally think that we are having the best mahi fishing of the whole year. We have been seeing great numbers of fish as well as the size too. There has been some small weed lines offshore but not to far to where it is unreachable with a short trip, this has all been inside of 500 feet of water and in Fort Lauderdale that's less then 3 miles from land. All this action has been on our half day trips which shows how good it actually has been. Following the weed lines its a good place to always start and if there is fish on them it wont take long to get a bite, but birds have been the best indication that there is life nearby. Trolling mostly surface baits has been the best but its always smart to have rods rigged to cast if you happen to get lucky and get a school behind the boat. The most important thing mahi fishing right now is to be ready for anything so when that chance comes you can take advantage of it. Some of the mahi have been close to 30lbs. Other then mahi this week we have seen a small flurry of some balckfin tuna. Early mornings has been the best window and trolling around shipwrecks and bottom structure around 200 feet has been best. The early mornings have been the best because tuna have big eyes and in low light conditions they will come closer to the surface, as the sun gets higher the tuna go deep. Smaller baits work best like spoons and squid lures around 3.5inch, it also helps when trolling for tuna to keep your baits further behind the boat the sound of the motor tends to keep them deeper. Some of the tuna have been as big as 15lbs. Last but not least this week there has been a very good flurry of sailfish. Trolling has been a great way to get some bites but live bait with kites is always going to be the favored technique, but that does require stronger winds to get the kite up. The sailfish action has been in depths around 120 feet of water just on the edge of the reef. When conditions have lined up correctly you can catch multiple fish but most days there has been a chance for a least 1 bite. As we get closer to our winter season we will start to see more sailfish action. This week please take a minute to check out some of the great photos of some recent catches that we had while out on our deep sea fishing charters, and remember to give us a like and follow on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram at Ybnormalsportfishing for daily fishing content. Coming up for the weeks ahead we have plenty of available dates for deep sea fishing charters, I keep preaching how good the fishing is right now and you don't have to miss it, Im not kidding check out all of our recent photos they speak for themselves. So if your coming down to Fort Lauderdale and looking to do some deep sea fishing now is the time, check out YB Normal serving Fort Lauderdale, Dania beach, and Hollywood beach for our your deep sea fishing needs. more later..... The Time To Fish Is NOW!!
The Time To Fish Is NOW!!
oktober 23, 2026
Hey there, Capt. Vinnie back again with another Fort Lauderdale deep sea fishing report. This week has been a little bit windy and the seas have been bigger then normal but the fishing has been just plain excellent. This time of year you want the windy conditions to make the fishing great and thats exactly what we have been having. The main focus lately has been mahi and we have been catching some nice ones at that. The average size has been around 12lbs and some have been has big as 20lbs. We recently have been having a nice tidal edge where the green outgoing intercoastal water meets the blue water of the gulfstream forming a current edge and the blue side has been where the mahi have been. Trolling down the blue side with surface baits out has been the ticket, its super important to watch your surface baits and keep them clean so you can maximize your chances. Birds like frigates have been contributing to our success as well, anytime you see birds diving the gamefish are not going to be to far away. Its always smart to keep your eyes peeled and your head on a swivel when fishing offshore you never know what you might see. Other then mahi there has been some wahoo if you are fishing some planers to take your bait under the surface that is going to put you right in the zone for a wahoo bite. Blue and white has been the go to color as well as pink and white. Certain fish feed below the surface and some feed on the surface, so using a planer helps to make everything in your trolling spread appeal to some sort of fish out there. Average size on the wahoo has been anywhere from 20-30lbs with some over 30lbs not being uncommon. Inshore wise the best bite has been kingfish, and a secret to getting the most bites on kingfish right now is using mullet strips. With the mullet run being in full effect now its always smart to match the hatch and use exactly what the fish are feeding on to bring you the most success. As you can see from our photos this week fishing has been excellent almost every trip, some days will be better the others but our average has been very good. We should start to see some sailfish action in another month or so i do believe we need another cold front or two that will cool the water temps down and get those fish heading south towards us. This week please take a minute to check out some of the great photos of some recent catches that were caught while out on our deep sea fishing charters and remember to give us a like and follow on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram at Ybnormalsportfishing for daily fishing content. Coming up for the rest of the month of October and the beginning of November we have a good amount of available dates to get out fishing, this is one of the best times to go fishing here in Fort Lauderdale, and you don't want to miss it so if your heading down and looking to get out check out YB Normal. Awesome Fall Deep Sea Fishing In Fort La
Awesome Fall Deep Sea Fishing In Fort La
oktober 11, 2026
Hello there, Capt. Vinnie here and back with another great deep sea fishing report. This week we had some very nice weather earlier in the week and as we approached the weekend the winds and seas picked up, fishing this week started out great catching a few sailfish just on the edge of the reef. There has been a few days where the sailfish have shown in some numbers which is great news for the winter to come. We are still catching all sailfish trolling right now, our live bait season is just around the corner though. So stay tunned for that in future reports. On the reef other then sailfish there has been a very good bite of kingfish and some nice ones at that, the most important thing right now is to be using mullet strips while trolling and the reason why I say this is because right now we are having the mullet run and there are big schools of these bait fish coming down our beaches as well as offshore bait balls and a lot of the predator fish are capitalizing on these baits, so it only makes sense to use exactly what there eating, match the hatch is what we call it. The kingfish have been biting best over the shallow shipwrecks and bottom structure around 100-130 feet of water and the average size has been 10-12lbs with a few bigger ones mixed in. One species that has been hot as well this week and specially on the days that the wind has been up is mahi mahi. The fall season in my opinion is the best time for mahi fishing in the Fort Lauderdale area and the size of them is a lot bigger then our summer season. On windy days the mahi have been in as shallow as 50 feet chasing live ballyhoo, the key is to look for birds diving and seeing the ballyhoo shower on top of the water while there getting chased. There has also been a few mahi offshore when the outgoing tide meets the gulfstream waters causing a tide line or current edge, trolling down these current edges is going to produce great results specially early in the mornings. Average size of the mahi right now has been 10lbs. Last but not least this week we did see some blackfin tuna action in depths around 300 feet. Smaller baits fished below the surface like spoons have been a good choice to get bites but your going to sacrifice quality for quantity fishing smaller baits, but if your looking for bigger tuna its better to fish bigger baits at faster speeds, which also could open up an opportunity for wahoo as well. The tuna bite has been best early in the morning from sunrise to around 830am. This week please take a second to check out some of the great photos of some recent catches that were caught while out on our deep sea fishing charters in Fort Lauderdale, and remember to give us a like and follow on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram at Ybnormalsportfishing for daily fishing content. Coming up for this week and next we have plenty of availability for deep sea fishing charters, the pictures of our recent catches speak for themselves. Fishing is great right now and should remain that way for quite some time. If your thinking about coming down to Fort Lauderdale for a weekend get a way or even vacation and thinking about fishing, now is the time!
