Mahi and Tuna Biting This Week

Following up on last week's report, the North Shore pattern is holding as we head into November. Conditions right now off Haleiwa are workable for a Haleiwa fishing charter — trade winds come and go, the ocean settles between swells, and the early morning runs have been the cleanest window for Oahu deep sea fishing. That is prime time for a North Shore fishing charter. What is biting: mahi mahi and aku — skipjack tuna — are the main action this time of year, with wahoo (ono) and shibi (yellowfin under 100 lbs) in the mix on the troll, plus trevally and bottom fish when we change it up. No guessing on species — if it is blue and white and 1 to 2 feet long, that is aku. This is why now is the time to book a private fishing charter Oahu anglers keep coming back for. Whale season is also starting — whale watching Oahu runs October through March — and a sunset cruise Haleiwa run is hard to beat after a day on the water. As a Honolulu fishing charter option based on the North Shore, this is Hawaii sport fishing the personal way: one private group, Captain Matt, no crowds. bottom fishing is always fun .

Following up on last week's hot wahoo bite, the North Shore is still producing. Conditions right now are good for getting offshore. Light trade winds. Manageable swell. Clean blue water outside Haleiwa Harbor. Perfect setup for a Haleiwa fishing charter and Oahu deep sea fishing. What's biting: Mahi mahi are holding around floating debris. Aku — skipjack tuna — are schooling up and hitting small lures. Ono (wahoo) are still in the mix on the troll. Shibi — yellowfin tuna under 100 lbs — are showing on the ledges. Bottom fish and trevally round it out for a true Hawaii sport fishing day. Just real chances, real gear, and a private boat. This is why anglers book a North Shore fishing charter and a private fishing charter Oahu right now. You get the whole boat, Captain Matt, and a plan built around the conditions that day. It is also whale season — whale watching Oahu is back October through March, and we often see whales, turtles, and dolphins while we fish if they choose to show themselves.
