Cabo Fishing Welcomes a Returning Guest
Jared had previously fished aboard the Blue Sky in 2021.
Returning anglers understand that fishing the same yacht doesn't mean repeating the same experience.
Offshore conditions constantly change.
Bait relocates, currents move and productive water can develop in entirely different areas from one trip to another.
Captain Luis and crew therefore approached December 7 as a new offshore search.
The crew watched for birds, bait concentrations, current edges, surface activity and changes in water conditions.
A dredge was also incorporated into the fishing presentation.
The dredge creates the appearance of a concentrated school of bait moving behind the yacht and can help attract predators toward the active spread.
Cabo Marlin Fishing Produces a Release
The day's primary billfish encounter came from one marlin.
When the fish committed, Captain Luis positioned the Blue Sky while the crew managed the spread and assisted the angler during the fight.
The marlin was successfully brought alongside the yacht.
It was then released back into the Pacific.
Blue Sky Cabo Fishing and Tours maintains a standing policy of releasing all marlin.
Cabo Dorado Add Two More Fish
The group also caught two dorado.
These colorful offshore predators are known for aggressive strikes, speed and aerial fights.
Dorado frequently move with bait concentrations and can also be found around current edges, floating debris and weed lines.
The combination of two dorado and one released marlin gave the group two distinctly different types of offshore fishing action.
The six-hour schedule provided additional searching time while still requiring careful management of the return trip.
Travel time counts in both directions, meaning the captain has to balance range against the amount of usable fishing time available.
At noon, the Blue Sky returned to F Dock with three gamefish recorded for Jared's returning group.
