July 28, 2023 – Cabo Fishing Report – 1 Striped Marlin Released, 1 Blue Marlin Lost – 35' Riviera Blue Water – Captain Oscar – 8 Hours – 1 Fish Brady and three guests departed F Dock aboard the 35' Riviera Blue Water at 6:00 AM for an eight-hour charter with Captain Oscar. The day's official catch was one striped marlin, successfully released. The group also hooked a blue marlin that was ultimately lost during the fight, giving the four anglers two separate billfish encounters during their full day offshore. Cabo Fishing Report - FISHING DATA SNAPSHOT Boat: 35' Riviera Blue Water | Captain: Oscar Date: July 28, 2023 | Charter Length: 8 Hours Guests: 4 | Main City: Houston, Texas Departure: 6:00 AM | Return: 2:00 PM Catch: 1 Striped Marlin | Released: 1 Striped Marlin Blue Marlin: 1 Hooked and Lost | Lunches: 4 Licenses: Included | Charter Type: Private Offshore Two Billfish Encounters Drive This Cabo Fishing Charter Report The distinction between a fish caught and a fish hooked is important. Brady's group successfully completed the fight with one striped marlin. That fish became the official catch and was subsequently released. The blue marlin was different. The anglers had a legitimate hookup and fight, but the fish escaped before it could be completed. It therefore remains outside the catch total while still being an important part of the day's fishing activity. Striped Marlin Delivers This Cabo Yacht Charter Highlight The striped marlin provided the completed billfish encounter. For visiting anglers, striped marlin offer the combination of size, strength and visible surface action that has helped make Cabo San Lucas internationally recognized for billfishing. Brady's group brought the fight to a successful conclusion. The fish was then released in accordance with Blue Sky Cabo's established billfish-release practices. A Blue Marlin Challenges This Cabo Charter Fishing Crew The blue marlin added a second level of excitement. Blue marlin are powerful offshore predators, and simply creating an opportunity at one can change the character of a fishing day. Captain Oscar and the crew put Brady's group in position for that opportunity. The fish was hooked but eventually won the battle. Recording it as lost rather than caught preserves the accuracy of the historical charter record. Eight Hours Give This Cabo Fishing Yacht More Range Blue Water's charter ran from 6:00 AM until 2:00 PM. An eight-hour trip provides significantly more time for searching and offshore fishing than a shorter morning charter. Travel time must still be considered in both directions, but the longer schedule gives Captain Oscar greater flexibility to investigate productive water and continue working an area when conditions justify it. On July 28, that window produced encounters with two different marlin species. Four Guests Spend This Cabo Yacht Charter Offshore Brady's party consisted of four guests. Four lunches were included for the group, making the longer offshore schedule more comfortable as the charter extended through midday. Fishing licenses were included as well. The private Riviera gave the four anglers the full boat and crew for their offshore fishing day. Cabo Fishing Report - Final Charter Record Date: July 28, 2023 | Species: Striped Marlin, Blue Marlin Encounter Volume: 1 Fish | Boat: 35' Riviera Blue Water Captain: Oscar | Duration: 8 Hours Guests: 4 | Main City: Houston, Texas Departure: 6:00 AM | Return: 2:00 PM Striped Marlin: 1 | Released: 1 Blue Marlin: 1 Hooked | Outcome: Lost Lunches: 4 | Licenses: Included The final catch total was one fish, but Brady's July 28 charter produced two genuine billfish opportunities. One striped marlin was successfully fought and released. One blue marlin was hooked but escaped. For four anglers spending eight hours aboard Blue Water with Captain Oscar, the result was a full offshore day that included encounters with two of Cabo's signature billfish. September 29, 2026 – Marlin & Sailfish – 2 Billfish Released A strong six-hour Cabo charter aboard the 35' Riviera Blue Water put Dennis and his group of three anglers into two different billfish species on September 29. Captain Oscar found the productive water approximately two miles off Whale’s Head, where the group caught and released one marlin and one sailfish. Fishing Data Snapshot Date: Sept. 29, 2026 | Species: Marlin + Sailfish | Volume: 2 Billfish Boat: 35' Riviera Blue Water | Captain: Oscar | Guests: 3 Charter: 6 Hours | Departure: 7:30 AM | Return: 1:30 PM Marlin: 1 Released | Sailfish: 1 Released | Released: 2 of 2 Location: Whale’s Head | Distance: ~2 Miles Offshore | Technique: Trolling Equipment: Dredge | Departure: F Dock | Marina: IGY Marina Cabo Conditions – September 29 Water: ~87.8°F | Air: ~82°F AM → ~90°F Midday | Humidity: ~66% Wind: ~12 Knots SSW Early | Moon: Waning Gibbous | Illumination: ~91% Sunrise: ~6:10 AM | Sunset: ~6:08 PM | Season: Warm-Water Billfish The location of the bite was an important part of this charter. With only six hours available, Captain Oscar did not need to spend a large portion of the morning running toward distant offshore banks. Productive water was approximately two miles off Whale’s Head, allowing Blue Water to put the trolling spread to work relatively quickly. Dredge Fishing Outside Whale’s Head The dredge was incorporated into the trolling program to create a larger subsurface bait presentation behind Blue Water. Warm water approaching 88°F provided classic late-September conditions around the tip of Baja California Sur. Oscar concentrated on the nearby zone instead of running past water that was already showing potential. The marlin provided the first major billfish encounter. Once the fish committed to the presentation, the group experienced the fight before the crew worked the marlin alongside the Riviera. It was successfully released. The sailfish brought a different style of action. Sailfish are capable of quick acceleration, rapid direction changes and aerial displays, making them a very different opponent despite belonging to the same broader billfish category. That fish was also successfully released. Six Hours of Cabo Fishing The charter ran from 7:30 AM until 1:30 PM with three anglers aboard. One of the advantages on this particular morning was efficiency. Finding suitable water approximately two miles offshore meant more of the available charter window could be devoted to trolling and working the productive zone. Environmental conditions were firmly on the warm side. Water was approximately 87.8°F, morning air temperatures were in the low 80s and temperatures increased toward approximately 90°F later in the trip. The moon remained bright at roughly 91% illumination in its waning-gibbous phase, while early winds were around 12 knots from the south-southwest. Captain Oscar's decision to concentrate on the Whale’s Head area resulted in two distinct billfish encounters during a six-hour trip, with both fish returning to the water. Cabo Dorado Fishing Report – Multiple Dorado Aboard Blue Water September 22, 2026 – Multiple Dorado Caught Cody spent September 22 offshore aboard the 35-foot Riviera Blue Water with Captain Oscar, using an eight-hour charter to search for productive water and mobile pelagic gamefish. The offshore search produced multiple dorado during a full fishing day departing from F Dock at Cabo San Lucas Marina. Cabo Charter Statistics and Fishing Results Charter Date: September 22, 2026 | Charter Length: 8 Hours Departure: 6:00 AM | Return: 2:00 PM Boat: Blue Water – 35' Riviera | Captain: Oscar Angler: Cody – Vancouver, B.C. | Species: Dorado Catch: Multiple Dorado | Fishing Style: Offshore Trolling Dredge: Included | Lunch: Included Departure Dock: F Dock, IGY Marina | Target Water: Offshore Cabo Dorado Fishing Requires an Active Search Dorado don't necessarily remain in one location throughout the day. Captain Oscar could use the eight-hour charter to evaluate changing offshore conditions while searching for indicators such as bait, birds, current edges, floating material and differences in water clarity. A dredge was incorporated into the trolling presentation, creating additional subsurface movement designed to imitate a concentration of bait. That offshore search eventually connected Cody with multiple dorado. Cabo Fishing Results at a Glance Fishing Statistic Result Charter Statistic Result Primary Catch Dorado Charter Time 8 Hours Catch Result Multiple Boat Length 35' Anglers 1 Captain Oscar Fishing Style Trolling Dredge Included Departure 6:00 AM Return 2:00 PM Lunch Included Departure Dock F Dock Dorado are particularly exciting trolling targets because the strike can quickly turn into an active fight. Strong runs, sudden changes of direction and surface jumps are all characteristic of the species. For a solo angler, multiple dorado meant Cody had plenty of direct fishing involvement throughout the charter. Cabo Offshore Fishing Benefits From Eight Hours Additional time doesn't guarantee fish, but it gives a captain more options. Dorado and marlin grounds can sometimes be 30–45 minutes from Cabo San Lucas Marina, and travel time must also be reserved for the trip back to the dock. An eight-hour schedule therefore creates a larger window for Captain Oscar to search different water, respond to changing conditions and remain with productive activity when fish are found. That flexibility was valuable on September 22. Cody's day combined a capable 35-foot Riviera, Captain Oscar's offshore search strategy, a dredge trolling presentation and sufficient charter time to continue looking until the crew connected with dorado. The result was multiple dorado aboard Blue Water. Ready to fish Cabo San Lucas? Check availability and book your Blue Sky Cabo fishing charter directly through FishingBooker. Cabo Marlin Fishing Report – Five Marlin Released at Los Arcos September **hidden content** Marlin Released A return customer with one specific target, eight hours aboard a 35-foot Riviera and productive water around Los Arcos combined for an excellent Cabo billfish charter on September 19. Brian returned to Blue Sky Cabo and was joined by Hans and Matthew aboard Blue Water with Captain Oscar. Their request was straightforward: target marlin. Charter Date: September 19, 2026 | Charter Length: 8 Hours Departure: 6:00 AM | Return: 2:00 PM Boat: Blue Water – 35' Riviera | Captain: Oscar Anglers: Brian, Hans & Matthew | Fishing Area: Los Arcos Species Caught: Marlin | Marlin Released: 5 Dredge: Complimentary | Departure: F Dock, IGY Marina Water Temperature: Approx. 88°F | Moon: Waxing, approx. 61% Cabo Waters and Fishing Strategy at Los Arcos With marlin established as the priority before departure, Captain Oscar could build the day around billfish rather than searching for a mixed-species catch. Blue Water worked the Los Arcos area while the crew maintained a trolling presentation that included a complimentary dredge. The dredge creates subsurface movement resembling a concentration of bait. It becomes one component of a larger trolling strategy designed to attract the attention of offshore predators. The first marlin confirmed the group had found productive water. What followed made the charter exceptional. Captain Oscar continued working the area while the crew repeatedly reset the presentation and prepared for additional opportunities. Brian, Hans and Matthew eventually experienced five successful marlin encounters. All five fish were released. Charter Snapshot Fishing Result September 19 Target Species Marlin Marlin Caught 5 Marlin Released 5 Anglers 3 Fishing Area Los Arcos Charter Time 8 Hours Boat 35' Riviera Release Result 100% Cabo Marlin Fishing Rewards a Full-Day Commitment An eight-hour charter was particularly useful because Brian wasn't simply hoping to catch anything available. He wanted to pursue marlin. Longer charter time gives the captain greater flexibility to follow changing offshore conditions and continue working productive water. September sea temperatures were approximately 88°F during this period, creating very warm offshore conditions. Captain Oscar also had to consider bait movement, currents, water clarity and visible activity throughout the trip. By the 2:00 PM return, Blue Water had accomplished exactly what the anglers requested. Five marlin had been caught. Five marlin had been released. For a returning customer who specifically came back wanting billfish, September 19 became a memorable Los Arcos marlin day.
