August 26, 2023 – Blue Water – 1 Dorado
JP and Jeff left F Dock aboard the 35' Blue Water Riviera with Captain Oscar on August 26, 2023. Their Blue Sky Cabo Fishing Charter and Tours trip was scheduled for five hours, running from 8:00 AM until 1:00 PM.
The original fishing target was marlin.
Once offshore, however, the crew had to respond to the fishing opportunities actually available. The game fish that entered the day's record was a dorado.

Blue Water departed approximately two hours after sunrise, giving Captain Oscar a defined 300-minute window to locate productive offshore water.
This was not a morning when conditions remained unchanged from departure to return.
At approximately 9:00 AM, air temperature was around 85°F and wind was near 9 mph. As the charter moved toward noon, temperature climbed and wind strengthened.
Cabo Weather Fishing Conditions
9 AM Air: ~85°F | Noon Air: ~87°F | Daily High: ~93°F

With only five hours scheduled, Captain Oscar couldn't treat the day like an eight-hour offshore charter with substantially more time for searching and relocating.
The crew needed to react to productive signs when they appeared.
Although JP and Jeff had left Cabo targeting marlin, the opportunity that developed was dorado. The crew made the adjustment, and one dorado became the confirmed catch.
That is an important part of offshore fishing in Cabo San Lucas. Target species provide a plan, but bait, current, surface activity and the fish themselves ultimately determine what happens during the trip.
By noon, Blue Water had been away from the marina for four hours and winds had increased to around 13 mph. The charter had approximately one hour remaining.
At 1:00 PM, Captain Oscar brought Blue Water back to the marina.
JP and Jeff's final record was straightforward: two anglers, five hours of Cabo fishing and one dorado after beginning the morning with marlin as the intended target.
