Your questions answered

How do I get paid?
You can choose between two payment models:

Paid in full online*. Your customers pay for the whole trip up front using a credit card, and the money gets automatically released to you right after the trip has concluded successfully. If a customer breaches your cancellation policy, you'll receive up to 90% of the trip price.

Deposit payment option. FishingBooker reserves the customer's deposit and you collect the remaining balance before or on the day of the trip using your preferred payment method: cash, credit card, or Paypal. If a customer breaches your cancellation policy, FishingBooker will transfer you the full amount of the security deposit equal to your commission rate.

How do I avoid double bookings?
FishingBooker's calendar helps you stay on top of your bookings, on our website and beyond. All you need to do is keep it up to date. You can:

  • Block off any non-fishing days as soon as you know your schedule, so customers can see exactly when you're free;
  • Connect your other online calendars to your FishingBooker calendar, so that your availability is automatically updated across all channels;
  • Link together your different FishingBooker calendars if you have more than one listing;
  • Turn on Instant Book and let customers book immediately without worrying about your trips overlapping;
  • Choose your own advance notice period, which shows customers the minimum notice period you need in order to receive a booking.

How do I know I have a booking?
When a customer requests a trip with you, you'll receive a text message, email, and notification through the FishingBooker for Captains app, with information about the booking. You can choose how you want to be notified about future booking requests in your notification preferences. You'll have 24 hours to accept or decline the booking request by responding to one of the messages, or directly through your FishingBooker account.

How do I contact the customer?
Our Instant Messaging service provides fast, easy, and secure communication with your customers. They can contact you before they book a trip to ask questions, and you can chat with them, invite them to fish with you, and even offer them trips that are not on your listing. Once they've booked a trip, you can e-mail or call them through the FishingBooker for Captains app with one click.

How does FishingBooker make money?
FishingBooker earns a commission from every booked trip that successfully takes place. You're in control of your commission, and can set it as low as 10% or as high as 30%. The commission rate is the same as the deposit you set when listing your business, and is one of the criteria that can impact your ranking on FishingBooker.

What happens with bookings in case of bad weather?
We know that bad weather is an unavoidable part of running a charter, which means that sometimes it's necessary to cancel a trip. Safety is our ultimate priority. This is why we make sure you're fully in control of bad weather cancellations. Your listing won't be affected if you need to cancel a trip due to bad weather, even if it's last minute, and the customer will receive a full refund. We won't keep any of the money, no matter which model they paid with.
