Background
I grew up canoeing, kayaking and fishing every other weekend on the Brandywine River in Pennsylvania. These are some of the most cherished moments of my life, spending time with family in a great outdoor setting. When I was older my passion for the river continued as I studied Outdoor Adventure and Business at Algonquin College in Ontario, Canada. I have been guiding whitewater river trips for the past 10 years in Canada, New Zealand, and the United States. Fishing has always been a great way to spend time while exploring the beauty and power of rivers.
Techniques
I like to start the trip with some shallow water fishing in an eddy in the middle of a rapid. This usually breaks the ice quickly and we start landing some decent Smallmouth Bass. We then work our way down river trolling, hitting eddies and secluded bays. We love top water fishing in the weedy bays, getting nice Largemouth Bass and Northern Pike. We can also pull in Wall Eye and Muski, but they are a bit harder to hook!
