Background
Capt. Ryan Harrington was born and raised on the island of Tierra Verde surrounded by the Gulf of Mexico and Tampa Bay waters. Saltwater runs through his blood and fishing has always been a part of his life. With over 30 years experience on the water Capt. Ryan has tackled just about every species on his bucket list from blue marlin to bonefish. He specializes in inshore and nearshore gamefish in and around Tampa Bay. Snook, redfish, trout, tarpon, snapper and grouper are main targets but his experience often caters to many other species on his clients bucket list. Capt. Ryan is a proud member of the National Team Evinride (consisting of only 26 professionals around the country), and is on Pro Staff for St. Croix rods, Canyon Reels, Oceanic Gear, Simrad, Mirrolure, Power Pole, Wet Sounds, Fishbrain, Mustad, Under Armour, Minn Kota, Gray Taxidermy and Smith Optics.
Techniques
My main focus is on the flats of Tampa Bay sight casting to schools or redfish and snook along mangrove islands. I prefer inshore and nearshore fishing and technique depends on the time of year. I mainly fish artificials and fly rods in the Winter time and live bait during the warmer months. I pride myself in being versatile and have many years experience trolling, kite fishing, live baiting, throwing artificials, fly fishing and bottom fishing. I adapt to the conditions and make my main goal to put clients on fish and show them a good time on the waters of Tampa Bay.

Went fishing on Monday, March 23, 2015

My boyfriend and I charted a full day trip with Capt. Harrington in March, 2015.  Capt. Harrington contacted us prior to our trip to confirm our reservation and ask what we were interested in catching. We requested to catch a variety of fish including something we could have for dinner, and that was exactly what we did. Capt. Harrington was very accommodating and picked us up at a local restaurant dock that was close to our hotel and that also ended up cooking up some of the sea trout we caught that day.  He had all bait, tackle and rods ready for a full day of fishing.  Our favorite catch of the day was a 31 inch redfish!! We also caught sand shark, sea trout and crevalle jack.  We also enjoyed the view of 3 different groups of Dolphins playing around us and multiple stingrays. Not only did we catch fish but Capt. Harrington was very knowledgable about the surrounding areas and gave us lots of ideas for activities to do on the remainder of our trip. Ryan provided plenty of refreshments and kept us well hydrated for a full day on the water. We would definitely recommend a fishing trip with Capt. Harrington and should we have the chance again, we would book with Capt. Harrington. Enjoy your trip!
