Roy took the two of us out for a 4 hour trip.
He positioned us in locations where the fish were biting, as he is quite knowledgeable.
We caught around 20-25 fish in that 4 hours, approximately 3 hours of actual lines-in-water. Roy has a good sense of humor and is laid back, and will instruct novice fisherman- and also assist avid anglers. He cleaned our keepers, and it was a good day of fishing. I would recommend Captain Roy to anyone looking to go out and actually go to where the fish are. He did not sit us down for extended periods where there was no action, when a spot went dry- he moved us onto a spot where we’d get hits. He’s only happy when his clients are catching fish.

We had a great experience. He communicated arrival instructions very well and was very nice when we arrived.  He was knowledgeable about the area and after a short boat ride we were on the fish within 5 min of setting the anchor.

Would recommend to anyone who wants to give it a try - he makes it easy, and if you know what you are doing he knows his stuff to make your trip awesome.

Me and my son had not taken a vacation where it was just the two of us.  I wanted it to be a good experience for him.  Roy had told me the “Red Tide” was having a negative effect on fishing before we went out.  He still had us on fish all day though they were a little reluctant to bite.  We caught several fish of different species.  Roy is fun to fish with and had us laughing all day.  Most important of all my son had a good time.  I’ll book with him again when in the area.

We fished with Capt Roy two days late Sept both days were excellent. Day one we had a slot Red Fish and Snook in the boat within the first ten minutes. The action continued at just about every stop. Day two the Lady lead the charge, she got the inshore grand slam.
Capt Roy was on time with bait each morning (no time wasted) he did not try to kill the clock as some guides do he fished hard the entire time we were on his boat. Reds on the grill Roy cleaned the first day were outstanding.
Look forward to a return trip with Capt Roy

I have hired fishing guides all over the USA and Captain Roy is on the top of the list. He grew up in these waters, and knows where the fish are. Roy isn’t a seasonal guide from another state. He fishes these waters Year round so he puts you on fish! I usually see him a couple times a year with friends and haven’t been disappointed. Besides all the fish, he is hilarious and will have you laughing at jokes and stories. Thank you!

Just what I was looking for to do some FL inshore fishing! Roy knew the right locations for active fish throughout the morning. We caught some trout, a large bonnethead shark, then finished the day with some snook, including a 28” slot fish.  Roy seemed to fish primarily bait. I think it would have been tight for 3 people but 2 plus captain was fine.

Roy was great!  Boat was ready when we got there. Roy went out early and caught some nice baitfish before we got there. Went out for six hours with my two boys. We are novice fisherman.  Our goal was to fish for something we could eat. Roy was quick to help the kids and me with baiting, casting tips, and safety with different kinds of fish. Caught two catfish, at least a dozen speckled trout with many keepers, a lady fish, a couple of puffer fish, two sheepshead, red snapper and a couple other exotic.  To say the kids had a great time is an understatement.  Saw great wildlife including birds, pelicans and even a dolphin!  We went to at least six different types of fishing areas during the day. Docks, bayou, open water, shallow water.  Roy was quick to move after a few casts with no bites. Caught about 30 fish total. Kids had awesome time.  We are looking forward to fishing again with Roy. Roy also cleaned and filleted all the fish and the boys got a kick out of seeing the Pelicans fight over the scraps. We had an awesome experience.  We showed up with no gear just a lunch and snacks.  Roy provided everything else. Then we took filets to local restaurant Cooters and they fried for us about an hour later. Talk about fresh fish!!!  Highly recommend.  I will give u a tip. Make sure u pay for parking $2 in parking lot at dock. There is small machine on right side of dock. No big signs to say pay for parking. So we got a $30 ticket, seems to be a gimmick by local park..but not Roys fault for sure.  Can’t wait to be back!!

A great days sport was had by all from the start to the very last cast. Capt. Roy put us on the fish at the outset with a 30” redfish followed by a variety of catfish, red fish, jacks, mackerel,  trout and blue fish.
When the fish moved on so did we and at each location we caught fish. Roy was very welcoming from the first minute we met him and being fairly experienced anglers ourselves from the UK we had lots to chat about during what was a hectic days fishing. Fishing on light gear for big fish has to be tried and when you hook into something big you feel every twist, turn &  run the fish makes and provides you with an exciting experience with Roy giving you encouragement and advice along the way. Roy tried his best to get us into some snooks but on the day they just weren’t biting and so we missed out - maybe next time. For UK and Irish anglers looking for something slightly different this is definitely worth a try, even going from mark to mark at speed on a small boat with Roy commentating as you zip along provides some light , yet brief, relief from the constant baiting up, casting, un hooking etc. We were catching fish a such a pace we only took a few photos!

Would we do it again- definitely.

Would we book Roy again , most definitely.

Great day out,  great fishing, great captain, great value for money - highly recommended

Captain Roy is an excellent fishing guide.I have been fishing in the Tampa / Clearwater area for over 30 years and have been with several guides. A few years ago a friend introduced us to Captain Roy and we now fish only with him. He makes the outing fun and very productive. All our family and friends who visit us greatly enjoy fishing with Captain Roy. He gets you on the fish. David Smith -Clearwater

We had a really good fishing outing.  Captain Roy was great and he put us on fish during the entire outing.  My Son and I caught at least 20 Sea Trout on jigs up to 13 inches.  We also caught a Spanish and a blue.  He kept my Dad and other son busy bottom fishing, where they hooked some shark and catfish.  Overall it was a great time, and based on my experience,  I would recommend Captain Roy.  Thanks for all your help setting this up.  Great experience.

Captain Roy was extremely knowledgable on the water. He was able to put us on fish at many different spots. He was willing to help my wife who did not have experience fishing catch a Flounder!  Captain Roy’s boat was clean and well equip. If you are looking for a Good day of fishing Captain Roy is your guy!  We will be going out again with him the next time we are in the area.
Highly Recommended!!

Fishing with Captain Roy is always fun and productive.  He really knows the St Petersburg fishing area well.  He almost always puts us on large redfish or snook but he also knows where to find the keepers so we can eat well for a meal or two (or more).  He works hard to make sure all members of fishing party can catch something too.  I look forward to going with Roy again soon.

I have fished with Captain Roy three or four times. He is a really good guy and knows how to find bait and fish, especially big snook and reds.  And he always has a bait well full of shrimp when he picks me up so we can get right into it without spending the first hour looking around.  I have fished with a lot of guides over on the Atlantic and much more over here on the Gulf side, and I think Roy is one of the best I’ve found for inshore and bay fishing here in the St. Pete Beach area, although his territory is bigger than that.  I’ll be going fishing with Roy on my next visit down here.

Captain Roy is one of best fisherman I’ve ever fished with, and is a wonderful person to be around. I’ve fished the Midwest, Great Lakes, Pacific Northwest, Atlantic Ocean, Pacific Ocean, and the Gulf. Hands down my favorite and most successful trips have been with Captain Roy. He’s put me on my biggest snook and biggest speckled sea trout. I would recommend Captain Roy to anyone!!!
