Background
TD Coastal Adventures was built on family, tradition, and community. My story started at five years old on the salt waters of Vancouver Island with my dad, brother, and uncle. I was barely tall enough to see over the wheel, but they let me drive the boat — and that’s when the sea got into my blood. Those early mornings, chasing salmon through wind and tide, gave me more than memories. They gave me purpose. Today, my boat carries the name of my late mom, The Barb, and my brother Tom — with 50 years of guiding experience — continues to share the wisdom that shaped the way I fish. Together, we bring a legacy on the water that’s second to none. For us, fishing isn’t just business — it’s family, tradition, and a way of life. We also believe in giving back to the coast that has given us so much. TD Coastal Adventures supports local causes, from hospice fundraisers to youth programs and community events. To us, being part of Vancouver Island means more than running charters — it means strengthening the people and the place we call home. Step aboard and you’ll fish the way these waters are famous for: single-action reels screaming, Tomic plugs flashing, anchovy and spoons custom-rigged from decades of know-how, and downriggers paired with hand-stuffed hootchies. It’s raw, it’s authentic, and it’s west coast fishing at its finest. This is more than fishing — it’s my life’s story, my family’s tradition.Step aboard, and let’s write your story on the tides of Campbell River.
Techniques
Campbell River is famous around the world for one thing — salmon fishing tradition. This is the Salmon Capital, where generations have run the tides chasing Chinook, Coho, Pinks, Chum, and the wild pulse of the Pacific. Add in the hard-hitting Lingcod that prowl our reefs, and you’ll see why anglers from everywhere come here to test their skill and fill their stories with saltwater legends. I carry that tradition forward every time I step on the water. Out here, fishing isn’t just a pastime — it’s a way of life, a test of grit, and the reason this town put its name on the map. On my boat, you’ll fish the way Campbell River is known for: single-action reels screaming, Tomic plugs flashing in the depths, and line-burning runs that make your heart pound. It’s raw, it’s authentic, and it’s what we’re famous for. I also rig downriggers with carefully stuffed hootchies, anchovy, and spoons — custom-presented on our lines from decades of catching salmon. Every lure and setup is chosen with one thing in mind: putting you on fish and giving you the thrill of a lifetime. With my lifetime on these waters, and together with my brother’s 50 years of guiding experience, we bring a legacy you can’t learn in a book. Step aboard and you’re not just booking a trip — you’re joining a story, a tradition, and an adventure that only Campbell River can deliver. This is west coast fishing at its finest — wild, legendary, and unforgettable. Captain Dan style. โš“??

Spring Tyee Chinook Salmon Charter
Spring Tyee Chinook Salmon Charter
Apr 5, 2025 Campbell River
Where the Giants Run โ€“ Toba Inlet An Exclusive Spring Salmon Expedition โ€“ April to July 15 Only Brought to you by TD Coastal Adventures โ€“ Campbell River, BC While the rest of the coast waits, the opportunity is nowโ€”Toba Inlet is open, and the giants are running. With Chinook retention closed in the Campbell River area, anglers are grounded, watching the season slip by. But in the secluded wilderness of Toba Inlet, a rare and legal window remains wide open: One Chinook salmon per day, per fishermanโ€”kept, cleaned, and carried home. But thatโ€™s not all. Coho and Pink salmon are also showing up strongโ€”and may be retained according to current regulations. Itโ€™s a multi-species spring fishery in one of the wildest and most scenic places on the coast. From April through July 15, join Captain Dan and the crew at TD Coastal Adventures on a journey into a place few ever see and even fewer ever fish. Toba Inlet is a world apartโ€”a glacier-carved fjord steeped in silence, shadow, and legend. With snowcapped peaks overhead and icy rivers pouring into the sea, this is sacred salmon groundโ€”ancestral waters where massive Chinook, powerful Coho, and schools of pinks come to test your gear and your grit. This isnโ€™t your average charter. This is Tyee country, where Chinook over 30 pounds earn a name of honor. Every strike is violent. Every battle is earned. And when the rod bends deep, and the reel screamsโ€”youโ€™ll know: Youโ€™re not just fishingโ€”youโ€™re catching legends. As the boat slices deeper into the inlet, keep your eyes open: Orcas surfacing. Humpbacks breaching. Sea lions on the rocks. Eagles overhead. Black bears on the shoreline. This is more than fishingโ€”this is the wild, untamed coast. With decades of experience, a deep respect for these waters, and a long track record of putting guests on trophy salmon, TD Coastal Adventures delivers more than just fishโ€”we deliver unforgettable memories. And thatโ€™s not all. On these charters, there are often bonus opportunities to drop traps for crabs and spot prawns, and to jig up a hard-fighting lingcod. This is full-throttle coastal adventure at its finest. โธป Book Now โ€“ Limited Spots Available!
