Capt. Chris is who you want to be with out in Tampa Bay.  Period.  As my first time out in this bay, Capt. Chris and Capt. Jay were able to put me and my father-in-law on the fish immediately and all day long.  Knocked out my Florida grand slam on my first trip out….snook, redfish, trout, and tarpon.  These men love what they do, know the bay inside and out, and were incredibly knowledgeable about everything fishing.  When you have other guides calling them to see where the bite is, you know you are with a great captain.  For anyone reading this review, go out with a positive attitude and most importantly let them take you where the fish are.  Do not try and target specific fish all day long but trust in the captain to show you a great day of fishing.  I will be calling Captain Chris every single time I want to go out in the bay.  To captain Chris and captain Jay, thanks for a great day of fishing and giving me and my father-in-law a proper introduction to how amazing the fishing is in Tampa Bay!

All I can say is that if you want to catch fish in Tampa Bay and have action from the first cast Triple CCC Charters is what you want to book. Captain Chris Camps paid particular attention to working with my son and made the two days of fishing epic. We caught more than five species of game fish and enjoyed every minute of our experience. We cant wait to get back and do it again next year.

Chris was an excellent captain and guide. He put us on the bite within 15 minutes of getting in the boat, and we caught and released 40-50 snook in one half-day trip - haven’t done that well since I caught the Sockeye run in Alaska! We also managed to pull in a few snapper, which Chris cleaned for us before we headed for home. Awesome trip!

To put it simple, Capt. Chris adapts to any given situation. If weather is a factor he adapts, if tides are a factor he adapts, if kids are on the boat, he adapts to their needs, if a seasoned fisherman is on the boat he puts you in the right place to catch quality fish. If it is your first time out or want to take a client out and want a great experience? Call Capt. Chris you’ll have a sore wrist and a great day of fishing.

My son, grandson and I met Chris at the ramp just heavy rains moved into the area and he offloaded a prior group sho called it quits early due to the storm. The four of set out in the deluge seeking shelter under bridges where we could. An hour or so later the storm moved out and we had a great afternoon catch-up my snook for the first time. The second day Chris put us on fish fairlycondidyently and we enjoyed his company and counsel.

We first targeted large Tarpon of which we hooked into three fish though did not boat these fish The experience of them taking bait and rocketing away was worth the price of the whole charter. The big Tarpon were reluctant to continue biting so we moved into Snook habitat and caught some really large Snook and a giant Redfish. Sun’s up and it’s getting pretty hot so we moved to a shady area and caught Jack Crevalle, a small Tarpon which was released at boatside, more Snook, Jack Crevalle and who knows what fish took the bait and ran into obstacles breaking off before we could identify them. Moving to another area we continued to catch more of all the above fish including some that we just couldn’t keep online. Released all fish for future anglers and were still catching fish when it was time to call it a day, A VERY FISHY DAY.  Gerry from Tsawwassen, British Columbia

Chris took out my 79-year old Dad and me for some fishing on the bay, in the mangroves, and in the flats. He was professional, courteous and absolutely knows his job. He’s very knowledgeable about the marine estuaries and where to catch the fish. It was a bit early for really good sized snook but they were still a blast to catch. Hooked a nice redfish, spotted trout and flounder too.

We went out of the Gandy boat launch which was very convenient for us.  Chris immediately established what kind of fishing we would like to do which was catch fish for a fish fry dinner with family and friends.  Chris referred to this as “getting the groceries”.  We cruised out and limited on Mangrove Snappers probably within 2 hours.  After grocery shopping was completed, we cruised to a few other spots that produced some good catch and release fun with snook, jack, lady fish, and more snappers.  All the while, Chris was very informative about fishing in general almost as if class was in session and he was the instructor.  It was a great time and we will definitely book with Chris again.

Poor weather forced into a plan B scenario. Fortunately Capt. Camps’ B scenario is as good as it gets.  The 2 of us caught at least 40 fish each.  We both caught Redfish, Snook and Trout.  We caught lots of Snapper including some real sizable fish.  We also boated a small shark and an assortment of other species as well , 11 in all.  We have been fishing off the beaches and piers during our Florida vacations for several years.  Capt. Camps not only set us up to catch fish that day he was also kind enough to demonstrate terminal tackle connections and advise on ways to improve our beach and pier fishing.  After fishing just one day with Capt. Camps our daily catch on our own has more than doubled.  I highly recommend Capt. Camps for anyone looking for a high quality fishing experience.

We will be looking up Captain Camp next time we are over that way for vacation.  Fishing is better than working, but CATCHING is better than Fishing.  Thanks Chris!  Andrew Vargo

I spent three days fishing with Capt. Camps for tarpon on June 2-4. Each morning we collected bait for the days fishing. The first day the weather was rough with lightning and wind but Chris kept us ahead of the storm and we were able to fish.We fished around the Skyway Bridge and we caught grouper, jacks and landed a nice 110 lb. tarpon. The second day we couldn’t buy a bite but we were in tarpon all day. I will give Chris an “A” for his effort. The third and final day Chris made some changes to our tactics and we landed two tarpon. They were nice fish on was over 7 feet long approx. 150 lbs and the other was over a hundred. Tarpon really put a fight over an hour to land them. Capt. Camps respects the fish and every effort is made to release the fish unharmed. His boat and equipment are in great shape, we were three for three on tarpon and I saw numerous fish hooked up on other boats but they lost most of them in the first few minutes. This was my first experience fishing with a charter captain and I couldn’t have picked a better one.I would recommend Captain Camps and I will be fishing with him again in the near future!

I called Capt. Chris when at the last minute, I had a business trip to the area and was going to have a little time to fish.  I had originally planned on chasing tarpon… When I called the first time, I got voicemail and the message was promptly returned… after that, we communicated by text, phone and email…  Chris let me know that the tarpon fishing had slowed significantly the last couple of days and while he would gladly take me, there was slim chance of having success…  bait was getting tough to find and the new moon had sent the tarpon away for a period…  his suggestion was we find some inshore action instead.  If I wanted to “grind out” a day chasing ‘poon, he would oblige.  I took his suggestion and we decided to look for some snook…  and we had a terrific time!  We found the fish on our second stop and in the next 2 hours or so, we landed approximately 40 snook…  along with a random shark or three… It was a lot of fun.  Having our fill of snook, we decided to just take a look at a tarpon spot or two.  (I really wanted to scratch that itch!) we left the snook hole and went searching for silver kings…  we found a few small fish rolling but had no luck jumping any, and as the time was getting short, we called it quits and headed for home…  I really enjoyed my day with Capt. Chris… he was friendly, engaging, and educating… I have already recommended him to friends and will do so again!  Thanks!

Captain Chris provided a first-class inshore angling experience for me and my Son in Tampa Bay.  From taking the time to discuss fishing options & details over e-mail prior to the trip, to the tip-top shape of all of his gear (8 rod/reel combos for 2 people, squeaky-clean boat, tons of live bait ready to go, flawless electronics), all facets of our day were handled in a top-notch, professional manner.  The best part, however, was his attitude and enthusiasm; he’s a good old fishing fool just like the rest of us, and he PUTS YOU ON FISH….we caught Snook, Trout, some big Mangrove Snapper, Jack Crevalle, and Ladyfish.  The biggest gap in time between having fish on the line was less than 10 minutes!!!  We were having so much fun we pretty much fished right through a mid-day downpour.  I highly recommend Captain Chris to anyone in the Tampa area who wants to catch fish.

First of all I have to say a very special thank you to Capt Chris for getting me out of the hospital and donating his time and knowledge to bring Wounded Warriors out for the tamco fishing tournament. That speaks volumes to the type of man with whom you will be fishing with. Whether this is you first fishing experience or you are a seasoned veteran let me give you some background of our day. Capt Chris brought no first mate to ensure he had ample room and could accommodate the most wounded warriors as possible!!! Due to the time constraints of the tournament, this meant Capt Chris was out long before the sun came up throwing the cast net alone to make sure we never ran out of bait way before we even got to the marina. The boat we were on was in immaculate condition and ready to catch! We were possibly the first of 60 boats out that day! On the way we got a run down of the targeted species of fish, the way we would be fishing for them, and of course plenty of laughs. A short, comfortable, and dry ride later Capt Chris had us on the fish! He worked his boat solo better than any tandem capt/mate team I’ve seen! We stayed on the fish all day and lost count how many quality snook we caught! We fished the same hole all day!! He was very laid back and patient and made sure all aboard had their fair share of catching and laughs. I hope everyone looking for a guide reads all the way to this end because TRIPLE C CHARTERS is a no brainer!!!

Thank you again Capt. Chris

Jason, It is always an honor to do whatever I can for our nations vets, especially for wounded warriors like yourself who have sacrificed so much for the freedoms most of us take for granted. From the bottom of my heart…Thank you for your service.

With Captain Chris you’re not going fishing, you’re going catching. He is a great Captain and he knows the hidden gems of fishing spots. I’ve hired him out twice and both times we have had a blast and caught a ton of fish. He’s great for the experienced fisherman as well as with kids. He’s patient, friendly and outgoing. He’s not salty and crusty like some previous captains I’ve had. Captain Chris’s main goal is to make sure you get hooked up with the species you are looking for and to have a good time. I’m looking forward to booking a tarpon trip with him in the near future.

Excellent day with Capt Chris Camps. I was hoping for a guide who was pleasant, hard working, and knowledgeable. Chris is all of those. We also hoped to catch fish, and did we! The three in our party are freshwater fisherman. Saltwater can be quite different, yet Chris was very patient and informative which helped us do things the right way. Six species caught including my best snook day ever- by far. Thank you Capt Chris for a great day on the water. Jim Williams

It was my 9 year old sons first guided fishing trip.  Captain Chris was great with him and really made his first trip a memorable one! We caught a lot of fish and had a great day on the water.

The world needs more tackle boxes and less X-boxes.  I love having the little ones aboard. 12 and under is ALWAYS FREE with me!

I hired Chris Camps of Triple C Charters for a 6-Hr trip to take my mother-in-law and I out and we had an absolute blast. We actually lost count of how many snook we ended up boating during the trip and even managed some other bonus species as well. Chris did an awesome job helping us out and worked very hard all day to make sure we were staying on fish. I cant remember him actually stopping once to take a break during the entire day. He had also gone out several hours before our trip to make sure we had great bait that would last all day.  I have hired a lot of guides and Chris is one of the best I have fished with. Thanks Chris for such a great day! My mother-in-law said she will remember that day the rest of her life!

Upon completing a fun-filled and highly successful chartered fishing trip with Capt Chris Camps out of Tampa Bay, I am pleased to offer my opinion as a fisherman with over 60 years experience; from carp to coho and barracuda to bass.

Capt Chris displayed right-on knowledge of the daily conditions of the Bay Area i.e. tides, temp and current baits available.

His watercraft was exactly what was needed to fish the chosen areas and operate not only safely, but with courtesy towards other fishing parties.

His ability to communicate and achieve the objectives of myself and my family was truly appreciated.

Last but not least, the tackle he provided was among some of the best I have had the pleasure to use.

Triple C is five stars across the board.

I chartered Capt. Camps for two trips with my wife on one and my grandson on the other. He put us on some of the finest inshore fishing imaginable. He is great with anybody you have in your family of any skill level from amateurs to experts. None of us wanted to leave after six hours of fighting Snook, Redfish, Trout, Mackerel, Jack Crevalle and more. We will see him next March, for sure.  Thanks, Capt. Camps, for making all of the great memories.

It was my pleasure to show you how good the fishing can be here in Tampa Bay.  Your grandson was a blast to fish with too. It might be a little rough taking him back to the pond after battling all those bull reds we got into. Hope to see you guys again next year…the fish will be waiting.

Captain Chris Camps was professional, funny, experienced and knew exactly what he was doing. He made us feel comfortable, and informed us on what to do and what not to do.  I expected to catch a couple fish, but we ended up catching massive redfish and snook. The action was non stop all day. I highly recommend him.

Thank you for the review Dave.  It is very much appreciated and, as always, it is truly my pleasure. Speaking of which, when are we going out again? :-)

I am from out of state and had been planning a vacation for several years.  My “to do” list included some in shore fishing. I contacted several people crom the Tampa Bay area on a fishing forum and several of them suggested Captain Camps.  I have been burned by a guide in the area before and was apprehensive,  but I contacted Captain Camps and booked the trip.

I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED! !!!  Captain Camps had us on the fish in less than 10 minutes and for the next 6 hours we had tight lines.  We caught mangrove snapper, trout, jacks and more snook than you could imagine (I would conservitively say 40).  My boys even got to hand feed a dolphin that was swimming by the boat.

Captain Camps was friendly, energetic, knowledgeable and a pleasure to be around.

The one and only downside is (and i completely understand his reasoning when it came to the snook) is that I would have liked to have more fish to bring home.

Tight lines Captain Camps.  You are my go to guy the next time I am in the area.

John, Thanks for the kind words. I’m stoked you guys were able to get in on the incredible snook bite we’ve had this spring. Even got yourself a Mogan! I do sincerely apologize though for not realizing you wanted to take home more than the dozen or so snapper and trout we had in the cooler. Next time we’ll make sure to fill it!
