Captain Joe is a great guy.  Very pleasant and knowledgeable. Boat and equipment was in good shape.  We had a tough trip though.  It was extremely hot and we had no shade on the boat.  30 sunscreen didn’t help much, no ones fault by the way.  I booked 3/4 day and we spent the first 3 hours looking for bait, rather than having the boat stocked and ready to go.  We got poles in for about 20 minutes fishing for pin fish (bait) and then not again until 3-4 hours into the trip.  To captain joes credit, he put us on snook and they hit for a good hour plus.  Tremendous fun. By then we were sun burned and tired.  It was fun but we expected to have more time with poles in the water.  Again, great guy and probably worth a try.  Perhaps just an off day for us.

Thanks for saying I’m nice, but I’m not sure how to respond, 2 stars overall is an insulting rating. If I’m so great, why only 3 stars? You caught desirable fish in great numbers, though it took allot of effort to make it happen. I worked hard to be sure it all came together, and on very little rest. I wanted to cancel The trip but I stuck it out for you. The storms surrounding us were half of the reason it took a while to get to the planned fishing spot. Once there it was snook snook snook fish on fish on fish on.

Thanks for booking

Thank you for the kind review. It was unfortunate that all our live shrimp died, the snook and trout were feeding on the shrimp naturally in the water as the tide flowed out. I wanted you to catch the fish badly but they only wanted live shrimp! This kind of thing is rare and I appreciate your understanding and good attitudes. Please get in touch next time you are down and we will do another type of trip.

Had an amazing couple days fishing with Capt. Joe of Head First Fishing. The first day we headed out into the bay after making a quick stop to catch a couple pinfish for bait. Almost instantly we had a Flounder in the boat and then another. A little while later my buddy hooked into something bigger. When he finally got it to the surface it was a really nice keeper Red Grouper. I think Capt. Joe was more excited than we were, it was great. We also got a couple really nice Gag Grouper and an assortment of other fish, too. He kept us on fish all day, and was great to fish with.

Day 2 we ran into weather problems and storms were rolling thru all day, so we couldn’t get out fishing. Capt. Joe kept in contact all day and kept us updated on the weather. About 5 PM he contacted me and said the weather looked to be clearing and asked if we wanted to try some night fishing. We said yes, and it was an incredible night on the water. We fished dock lights starting at about 9 PM, and we were catching a bunch of Trout and a Snapper and other smaller fish. When all of the sudden we pulled up on a dock and saw this gigantic shadow. Capt. Joe went to work rigging up a heavy pole and threw a Lady Fish with a clipped tail up to the dock. Next thing you know he hooked into a massive Tarpon, and worked it out of the docks and handed it over to me. Had an incredible fight for at least 20 minutes and some tired arms and hands from fighting that beast. After finally getting it boatside, took some quick pics and released it for someone else to catch another day.

It was more than I ever expected for a fishing charter. Capt. Joe is an absolutely amazing guide and great guy overall. I will definitely be contacting him next time I’m in the Tampa area and will be fishing with him again.

I had a really good time on my trip. The fishing was good and the captains were awesome. The only problem I had was that I got sick on the trip. Don’t know why I got sick, but it had nothing to do with the boat or the fishing. I only mention it because the captains went out of their way to look out and over me. They helped me fish when I got to feelin better and took great care of me and my brother in law. If I’m ever back in this area I will look them up and use them again.

We believe we would have caught more fish if I had not agreed to two schedule changes by the captain. They also Used some of our time to catch bait. Others did not.  The boat tried hard to catch what we did but we ran out of time.  Only had total of 3.5 hours of 5 scheduled.

Thanks for your review. We tried to schedule the trip the best that would fit everyone’s schedule and for good fishing.  The conditions in Tampa Bay are difficult sometimes in the spring time due to the high winds that often pickup after noon. I’m sure you remember the ride back across the bay was very bumpy. I did not want to wait until it was unbearable for you so I called the trip at the 4 hour mark. Half day trips range from 4 to 5 hours.  Fishing Booker should specify this on the listing.

Catching bait during a fishing trip is common. We try to catch bait before most of our trips, however it was on the way to the fishing spot and bait was plentiful. We did get you on a good snook bite, even though the thick algae grass made things difficult. Many fish were busting around the boat. Several fish were caught, and some were missed. One of the factors in the bite was that there was so much snotty algae grass blooming the live sardines would get swamped and covered.

All in all though a good day of fishing. Thanks for choosing us to take you.

The fishing and crew were excellent. The crew made it a point to be helpful, courteous and professional. The Captain found a good spot to fish and hooked us up (pun intended). While my son and I were catching fish the Captain and mate were casting and handing us reels ready to be reeled in. We could not catch fast enough. The most important part is the captain and mate made sure we had fun. Will do again.

Planned a trip with my teenage boys to fish offshore. The Captains busted their backsides to get us on Kings, but they weren’t cooperating. No worries! We went to a few reefs and were hooked up the rest of the day. Great fishing! Caught numerous species and even took some meat home. I believe we even ran out of bait, and we had a ton of it too. Bent rods for hours. Doubles and triples. Look for us next year guys. Had a blast. Thank your for helping with the memories that I was after for me and my boys.
