Mr. Howard,

        Thank you for fishing with us aboard the Soggy Bottom II. I apologize for anything you felt may not have been up to par. Unfortunately 6 people on a 22 ft center console is crowded, so I do apologize there. If I remember correctly we were limited as to where we can fish due to high winds that day so we didn’t have many options. I also remember nobody was catching anything that day so 10 keeper 3-8 lb fish may have been slow for you guys, but we did end up better than most others that day. We also caught enough keeper fish to feed the 16 people you had said you needed to…. As a captain we have those days where mother nature limits us as to what we can do and where we can go so we constantly have to play the cards we are dealt. I can assure you we do lots of different types of fishing throughout the year… not much of which can be accomplished from the shore. The price of our trips is similar to every boat our size in the fleet and in most cases cheaper than the next.  Booking a trip is all about the experience. We have days where the fish don’t bite I guess that’s why they don’t call it catching…. But, a great captain will work hard and do anything in his power to find a bite and keep you on it.  Any time you book a trip you take a risk of the fish not biting no matter who’s boat it is. So please be aware of this before booking any boat to go fishing. And please consider the weather carefully as mother nature is known to throw us curve balls.

Let me first say you booked a 3hr kids fishing trip that clearly states this is a catch and release trip that targets fish that bite more frequent to keep the kids entertained, as in our experience… this is the best trip for young kids who don’t have much experience fishing. They get bites often and that is the best way to keep their attention and their head in the game. I just called you to see what went wrong and you told me you caught 10-11 catfish before you asked our captain to target redfish for you, and even though he wasn’t set up to do so he still tried for you…. Even though keeper redfish are not prescribed in the trip you booked he did it anyways. It was July. The water is as warm as it gets and keeper redfish and trout are tough to come by this time of year as the lack of oxygen in the water caused by the heat and slow tidal currents really makes bay fishing tough this time of year. Ask any guide in Destin. If it was a deep sea trip you wanted we offer plenty of those I wish you would have told me before the trip I would have recommended our longer trips that target the species you were looking for, but I was never informed. There isn’t a boat in the fleet that takes people deep sea fishing on a 3 hr trip. As far as the phone goes I will look into it, and I can assure you that is not a complaint we’ve ever had before nor will we ever have again. Capt. Bobby fished 11 hours today, and has 10 tomorrow, and 10 the next day. I’m sorry if he seemed sluggish, but we work our tails off to do our best for everyone of our customers. I imagine he was frustrated when your kids are catching fish, and you tell him to move spots because you want dinner fish and you booked a catch and release trip.
