Had a great time on the water today with capt Jon. It was the first time I’ve used a guide/charter service. He called the night before, showed up on time, gave clear instructions on the whats/hows, was an easy conversationalist, brought bait, decent gear, a nice boat, and was chill about me losing a line to a pier.

Unfortunately, fishing with a guide doesn’t make the fish magically jump in your boat. We didn’t get much action. Several strikes and 4/5 fish to the boat in 4 cold hours. It wasn’t for the lack of Jon trying. We tried a bunch of different spots and techniques to get them going but the cold front must’ve shut them down. A bit disappointed in lack of production - which isn’t Capt Jon’s fault. I’d go to a fish market if I wanted a sure thing.

Overall- had a great time on the water and would call Capt Jon again if I came back to town.

Our party of three arrived at the 10th St. pier in downtown Sarasota early, and Cpt Jon was already there ready to go! We loaded up and headed out on our half-day morning flats fishing trip on this beautiful Spring morning, and Cpt Jon put us on fish right away on our first stop about 1.5 miles offshore. Constant, non-stop bites - our party of three each stopped counting after about a dozen fish caught per person, and we caught nearly every reef species out there. We headed back near shore and fished piers/structure on the way into Sarasota Bay, caught fish there as well, and then headed into the Bay just offshore from the Van Wezel and caught our keep of whiting for dinner that night, watched dolphins swimming right by the boat, and more. We finished our morning trip by fishing the shallow grassy flats areas to the north with jigs, and picked up several spotted sea trout using that fishing method as well. All the time we fished, Cpt Jon was there proactively re-baiting, identifying our catches, sharing his experience and expertise to help us improve our fishing skills to maximize our hook-ups, and unhooking our caught fish for us. He also fileted all of our catch upon returning to the dock, and even threw in a few extras he had caught before we arrived that morning! We had a great time getting to know him and learning that he doesn’t live too far from us locally, at that. He is among the nicest, most professional and personable, humble. sincere, honest, family-oriented captains we’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting and fishing with here in Sarasota. Our success on the water that morning made for a delicious surf-n-turf dinner that night with our extended family who were in town. Went with my sister & fiance & my wife who is disabled. Was at the dock ahead of time waiting for us. Introduced himself. Very courteous and helpful getting my wife on the boat. She had can’t come along to just watch. gave us a rundown on the safety features and locations of safety devices. and explain what we were going to be doing for the charter. Was very informative showing us the history of the area. And we commenced to catch fish. Fishing in the Bay of Sarasota we got trout, grouper. Move to several spots and almost limited out on Mangrove snapper. Very friendly and knowledgeable fisherman. Even accommodated us and took my wife to a park to use the restrooms. 4 hours does not seem like a long time fishing but it is. Learned a lot and look forward to going again. Thanks Captain Jon

Had a Great Day with Captain Jon out on the water today! We were taken to several favorable locations and were catching fish within the first ten casts! The boat was in great condition and fishing equipment was ideal. Captain took great care of everyone on board and had a first time fisher with me catching fish like a pro by the end of the day! Wouldn’t want to go back out on the water with anyone else in the area!

I am currently in the area for work and took my daughters and father-in-law to spend time together. Have not seen my daughters in over 30 days. We had a great time would absolutely recommend booking a trip on Living The Dream.
