As a guide, there are a lot of variables, many things we cannot control - the weather, tides, availability of bait. But the few things I can, are the ones that really matter. I love people, dogs, kids, and fish. Not necessarily in that order. Talk to anyone that knows me, and your likely to find that I am very easy to get along with. I grew up in a small town, so naturally I do have the Southern Charm/Hospitality. I DID NOT take Rosetta Stone Southern Edition. Yes. I do talk funny. I grew up in a rural town in Kentucky with 3000 people, on the banks of the Cumberland River. Have been fishing since I could walk. My first experience on an airplane took me (and dropped me) for 4 months in the Alaskan bush, where i worked as a fly fishing guide. I spent 3 1/2 years in the Everglades as a guide.

We fish with live bait, artificial and fly.

Fall Fishing Has Been Great!

Capt. Josh did a great job putting us on fish. He did everything right. He is very knowledgeable, personable and energetic. We caught about 30 fish and we kept a few to eat. I will use Capt. Josh on my next Florida fishing trip.

The Captain worked hard, had good bait and tackle but the fish didn’t cooperate. That’s fishing. Captain Josh is knowledgeable and VERY good with children. We will fish with him again.

I booked this trip with my 2 sons. Josh was fantastic. Took us to many different fishing areas. He was so spot on with helping us with equipment, bait etc..  My son hooked a tarpon but jumped hook right on the side of the boat. DISAPPOINTING but he can say he hooked a tarpon.  I caught 2 red fish that were over the limit so they were put back in the River. Did caught 1 spotted trout that we had for dinner and it was delicious. My other son caught 2 catfish. We hooked many fish in the 4 hours. An absolutely fantastic 4 hours with Joshua. A very knowledgeable captain and many “fish stories”. When we come back next year a fishing trip with Joshua is top priority.

The trip was great all around and I would highly recommend Capitan Josh. He is very friendly, knowledgeable, honest and genuinely cared about us having a good time. We started out catching 6-7 keeper sheepheads (which were delicious) and moved out to try our luck with some trout/red fish. We ended up getting two keepers there. The boat was great and equipped with all of the necessary tools to make life easier out on the water.

Great day of fishing. We set out for Goliath Grouper and Shark but weren’t able to get them this time. We caught a few sheepshead, grouper and snook but most weren’t keepers.

Had a great time. Josua is a pleasant and attentive young captain. He took us to half a dozen fishing sites. We caught about 30 fish. Highly recommended.

Thank you for the kind review Alex. I had spoke to several captains on Christmas day who had also struggled to find a solid bite. It makes me feel good that you took the time to write a nice review even on what I consider a tough day of fishing. I hope you and Tonya enjoy your stay, have a prosperous new year, and if i can accommodate in any way with your transition to Florida feel free to contact me. Best Wishes

Great time! Captain Joshua was knowledgeable, friendly, accommodating, and knew where to find the fish. We caught fish from the moment we started to fish. We learned a lot about different fish and caught snapper, blow fish, Spanish Mackeral, Cobea, shark and had a Baracuda on the line. We highly recommended fishing with Captain Joshua. We will certainly charter with him again.

We booked a last second trip on a whim and took 3 children with. The boys had a great time. Hit the first fish before the second line was in. Got chased by dolphins which kids loved and learned a little about fishing and Florida. Josh is good with kids and adults. Very personable and communicates well with all ages. Definitely going to book again. Caught snapper, flounder, Angel fish, puffer and all sorts of others. Hook some Goliath grouper but weren’t able to land them. Give him a full recommendation

My 9 yr old twins and I signed up for the Half Day Trip. Our first spot was a nearby estuary where pompano had been biting. We had frequent snapper catches, but no keepers. After about 30 min, Capt. Josh offered to take us to the nearby wreckage/reef. There, we were catching snappers, Spanish mackerel, and Jack Crevalle. We finally ended at a secluded area farther out. Capt. Josh dropped a couple of the big lines to give us a chance at some cobia and sharks.

This was our first salt-water fishing experience and it was exactly what I was looking for. Capt. Josh was attentive to my boy’s needs, from baiting and rigging their lines to boat speed. He was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable of the area wildlife. After the trip, he even took us out for another 30 min to get close with the dolphins which actually was the highlight for one of my boys.

I highly recommend Fish Southwest FL and am looking forward to fish with Capt. Josh again.

Capt. Josh was great! A world of knowledge. Great with the kids keeping their lines in the water and putting us on some fish. More than satisfied and will book again for our next fishing trip. This is the guy to go with.

My family and I had an awesome time. Captain Joshua Roberts was very personable, knowledgeable, experienced, accommodating, and also very funny. He put us on a lot of fish and made sure the kids were having fun. His boat ran great and he was there waiting for us at the dock and was in no hurry to get back right on time. It was by far the best experience I have had out on the water. and I have been fishing for quite some time. I highly recommend using “Fish Southwest Fl” and Captain Roberts.
