I HIGHLY RECOMMEND captain Joey of wicked fly charters. He stayed in touch with me until our trip date and kept us update on the fishing reports. The equipment and boat are top notch that will help your day be a success. Captain Joey is very knowledgeable of the waters and area and knows where to be and when to be there. My son and I caught lots of trout, snook and had several hook ups on tarpon. My son caught his first tarpon and snook. It was a great and memorable day for us. If you’re in his area please look up captain Joey you will not be disappointed. Thanks for a great day on the water captain Joey. Hope to see you on our next trip.

Without a doubt Capt. Joe can put you on the bite. My son and I spent Christmas Eve catching and releasing at least a dozen different species. 3 or 4 passes at the pier and the bait well was full and we were good for the day. Capt. Joe knows his craft and where the fish are. Extremely friendly and easy going. He’s happy when you’re happy. He’ll be seeing us again real soon.

Captain Eskay stayed in touch prior to our charter, and proved to be one of the most knowledgeable guides I’ve ever patronized.  One example:  when we went to get bait, the other guides were castnetting haphazardly around the Fort Desoto pier; Captain Eskay in crept quietly, listening and looking for signs of baitfish, and in two casts he had completely filled the livewell.  As we were leaving, the other guides quickly headed for the spot he had used - the ultimate compliment.  Captain Eskay asked questions about what I would like to catch, and immediately took me all the way across the Skyway bridge to a group of mangrove islands where I caught three snook and a nice speckled trout.  He treated me with great respect and wanted nothing more than my success.  He’s a great captain, and a damned good man.

Thanks Ralph, I had a great time and you were one of the most interesting customers with all of your life accomplishments. If anyone else is reading this Ralph has his name on Mars and is an extremely accomplished gentleman. It was an honor to meet you and get to spend some time with you.  Happy birthday again and hope I hope I get to see you again.

Captain Joe had me on a red fish honey hole for two straight mornings! We were hooking up on every other cast. Other boats were in the same vicinity and didn’t see a single one come remotely close to the activity we were seeing. Even with less then stellar bait (which by no means was the captain’s fault) we kept hooking up on tournament sized reds one after another!  Even after the bite died off, Captain Joe had plenty of ideas up his sleeve and we rounded out the days hooking up on groupers, snook, and a couple sharks. Capt Joe works tirelessly to make sure you and your guests are properly taken care of the entire trip while also maintaining one of the sleekest and fastest flats boat in the area.

I’ve been fishing with Capt. Joe for over 10 years.  From Ft. Myers to Tampa Bay he has always put me on fish.  This past trip was no different.  I wanted to catch a grand slam and my girlfriend wanted to catch a tarpon.  She hooked up on her second cast with a 150 pounder!  I jumped another one and we caught 3 big snook before 9 o’clock.  Then we moved to a grass flat and caught lots of trout, ladyfish, mackerel, and bonnethead sharks.  When the tide went changed he took us to fish for some big redfish.  We caught redfish until our arms fell off including a 41” monster!

Capt. Joe can read the water and conditions with the best of them!  His boat is fast, stable, and dry!  If you’re looking to show your family a fun day of fishing, or you’re serious about catching a trophy, I cannot recommend Capt. Joe highly enough.  My favorite trip to do with him is late night/early morning for monster snook.  This spring we caught several snook from 38”-43”!

I’ve fished with a lot of guides from North Carolina to Key West and Capt. Joe is at the top of my list!  He flat out catches fish!!!

Had an amazing time! Wicked Fly/Capt. Eskay is by far the best charter in town - from the boat and equipment to the trophy fish he put us on top of, I would highly recommend Capt. Eskay if you want to catch some MONSTER snook and tarpon. The Lake & Bay is a beautiful boat too - plenty of room to fish, clean and comfortable - not to mention fast! Capt. Eskay’s knowledge of the area and seasonal patterns put us on top of our targets quickly, and we were not disappointed - I honestly have never had so many tarpon on line in one trip! I will definitely be booking more trips with Wicked Fly!

Capt. Eskay was on time and fully ready to depart when my sons and I arrived. He new exactly where we needed to go to find the Big Game and didn’t waste time if we stopped in a dead area. Capt Eskay had the perfect bait and used some unique technics to be sure when we found the right area our boat was the one getting all the bites! As we hauled them in he coached my boys & had them both dealing Big Tarpon in like the pros on TV! Both of my sons work very hard and one lives out of state so I can only get “Boys Days” once a year if I’m lucky! I could not have been happier with this day fishing and will definitely do it again whenever possible!! Worth twice the price we paid, which were his standard rates.
I have been on many fishing charters and have had the full range of experience, I have found the only one I will ever need in the future. In fact I’m hoping to contract Capt Eskay to do a three day trip to the FL Keys. Finally, I loved the boat! I’ve fished on everything from flats boats to 45 foot monsters, but this boat is by far the best pure fishing machine I’ve ever seen! And is capable on every type of fishing without beating you to death.
Thank you Capt for a Great Day! Looking forward to our next trip! God Bless!

This was my third time taking a private red fish trip and we had a great time! After the first two unsuccessful and boring trips with other captains from the Tampa Bay area I swore I’d never do it again; until a friend of mine referred me to Captain Joe and said we would not be disappointed. So we decided to give it one more chance and I’m glad we did.
Not only was Captain Joe extremely personable and funny but his knowledge of the waters was absolutely impeccable.  Our bounty definitely wasn’t shy!!  From start to finish he made sure we had a great experience.  This is a trip I will definitely be booking again with Captain Joe.
