Absolutely incredible day of fishing with Captain Mike Rathjen on the Ballie Who III.  We booked a full day trip on short notice during our vacation to Islamorada and it turned out to be the best part of our entire trip.  We were fortunate to have captain Mike Mason from Timeout Sportfishing as our first mate as well so we were completely surrounded by fishing expertise during the trip.  The day started out locating and catching live bait which the captain and mate made short work of.  We then headed a bit further offshore and caught our limit of tuna within approximately 30 minutes!  That left us the rest of the day to look for mahi which we proceeded to catch a total of 17 (3 short of my wife and I’s 2 person limit.). Let it be known that we had the final 3 fish of our limit on a number of times however they ended up getting lucky and escaped our freezer.  Can’t recommend Captain Mike, his boat, and crew highly enough.  We will definitely be fishing with them again soon.

My wife and I joined Capt. Mike and Sam on a half day trip and they were very knowledgeable, professional, helpful, and friendly. If we ever have the opportunity to fish with them again, we definitely would love to. We wanted to try for sailfish, but also bring home dinner and they did accommodating that.

The Ballie Who is a beautiful boat! Captain Mike & Colby were awesome! It was not necessarily a great day for fishing, as the fish weren’t easy to find. But they never gave up & we ended up with 11 beautiful Mahi!! Colby was great at answering all our questions and sharing fishing info. Captain Mike made quick work of filleting our fish…he probably fillets fish in his sleep.  We would definitely recommend taking this charter!!

Capt Mike and his mate Ryan were awesome.  Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate and strong winds forced us in early after my 12 year old son became sea sick.  However, we were out long enough to load up on Yellow Snapper.  At Mate Ryan’s recommendation we took our fresh catch to Lazy Days that evening where they cooked us up an awesome fish dinner.  Will definitely book another trip with Capt. Mike and Ryan.
