Thank you David.  I apologize for not explaining things more while we were out there.  The reason I fished the spots that we did was because they have been the only ones consistently producing quality fish the past week.  The reason we didn’t troll was because there was not a defined weed line so I didn’t want to waste the little time we had on blind trolling.  Due to the scattered weed we would have just been cleaning lines the whole time.  I get so focused on catching fish that sometimes I forget to explain why I do what I do but I promise that everything I do has a reason.  I wish you the best of luck with your business and hope to see you back down here.

I’m sorry you feel this way, John. Due to the churned up water from the storms and rough seas over the weekend, I knew that trolling would be unsuccessful. I wanted to provide you with the best experience possible despite the conditions of the ocean that were beyond my control.  Unfortunately, the live bait was also very scarce due to the storms and seas as well, though we exhausted several proven methods to produce live bait.  We fished the same general area because I was marking fish on the ocean bottom. We hooked into a couple kingfish and a mahi in that area because of this technique.  The lack of fish activity can also be attributed to the feeding patterns of the fish being altered by the full moon phase the night before. I strive to ensure every client has a personalized, one-on-one experience and memorable, productive fishing charter. I am sorry you feel this way, Mr. Rizzo.  I wish you would have spoken up during the trip because my mate and I were doing everything possible to ensure you had a great experience. During the trip, you mentioned you were hot and I invited you to have a seat in the shade of the T-top to which you declined. I asked you before the trip what species you would like to target and we used all possibly methods and spent considerable time targeting them specifically to help you catch both Mahi and Grouper. I was able to put you on a Mahi bite but when the line went slack while you were in the process of reeling him in, the hook came out of it’s mouth and he swam off. We then continued trolling to attempt to put you on another Mahi bite until the time of day we knew the Mahi bite was less likely. We then switched to bottom fishing to target grouper as well as Mahi on a flat line. Shortly after we began, you caught two fish and became tired. We rebaited your rod but you declined it as you wished to rest. I had recommended a few times during your rest that whenever you were ready, your rod was baited and beside you so you could take advantage of the good bottom bite. My mate and I wanted to try to make good use of the time you were resting to attempt to put some fish on the boat for you. I caught an undersized grouper while you were resting so again I encouraged you to begin fishing whenever you were ready. For the remainder of the trip, you chose to rest. At the end of the trip after you paid, I apologized for the Mahi opportunity not working out as we had hoped and your only statement was that you were upset that my mate and I fished. The only reason we fished with you was because you were choosing not to reel in the fish getting hooked on the rods we had set up and waiting for you. Several times we tried to hand you a rod as it got a bite and you kept declining. My mate and I were communicating with you throughout the entire trip, explaining our strategies before switching from trolling to bottom fishing and offering guidance and assistance throughout the trip. If at any point you were unsatisfied or wished to do things differently, we would have accommodated you gladly. Feel free to share your thoughts and concerns.
