Background
Since an early age I've always had an obsession with fish and fishing. My father took me fishing earlier than I can remember, and my passion for the sport quickly out grew his and he found me a fishing "mentor" who was equally as passionate about fishing as I am. I grew up fishing in Southern California near the famous Lake Casitas and also frequently fished the Channel Islands on ocean sportfishing boats. Subsequently I started working part time on sportfishing boats operating in Ventura during the summers (well more like they would let me fish all day as long as I helped set up and scrub decks and clean fish on the way back).
Techniques
I specialize in artificial baits for largemouth and peacock bass. After fishing all over the US I have had to become a jack of all trades when it comes to catching bass. I really enjoy crankbait fishing, big swimbaits, finesse swimbaits, topwater fishing, and flipping, but my favorite way to fish is whatever way happens to be working best at the time. I have developed some special techniques for fishing Lake Wilson that not many anglers know about as I make the lures by hand.

Me and my 8 year son have been wanting to catch a Peacock Bass for a couple years now so we booked a trip with Captain Alex James.  It couldn’t have gone better!  Captain James is a very knowledgeable fisherman, it was obvious he knew the lake and how to fish it.  He had us catching fish within minutes.  He was also very patient with my 8 yr old son and taught him some cool techniques.  Would highly recommend it if you want to Catch a Peacock Bass, or just to have a great day of fresh water fishing on Oahu.

Great trip, highly recommend.  Bass guide was very knowledgeable, friendly and patient.  He is an expert fisherman that knows how to navigate Wilson Lake.  Caught more bass than anticipated.  Will definitely book another fishing trip with Alec.
