With spring right on our back door. We will be switching gears. However the winter bite is still hanging around. Blackdrum, Sheepshead, Mangrove Snapper are on the near shore reefs. Using the new nekidballjigz makes it easy to feel the bite and produces more hook ups. Sighns of Spanish Mackerel are showing themselves and the Kingfish won't be too far behind. With the water temps starting to cool off, the flounder bite stays HOT!! Last couple trips have produced a mixed bag of fish. But I have noticed the big flounder are starting to move into there winter near shore spots. Right with them will be the Mangrove Snappers, Black Sea Bass, White Grunts, and Sheepshead. As the summer bite ends, the fall bite is starting to heat up. With several trips this summer. The Flounder, Snapper and Shark bite was off the charts. Now its time to switch up gears and get ready for Fall near shore fishing. King Mackerel, Spanish Mackerel will steal the show. I like to target these fish by trolling live and dead bait. Also love to troll hardware ( Spoons and Planners ) . But don't forget about the bottom bite this Fall, Flounder, Snapper ,Cobia and Sheepshead will be hanging on the near shore reefs as well ! With Battling the summer weather. I had a perfect window to get out with some great client's. A 4 hour trip was booked and my goal was to get them on the fish quick before storms could bring the party down. Quick shot out to one of my near shore spots for some great Flounder,Grey snapper spots. Right after I put the anchor down baits went in the water and the bite was on. Using dead cut bait placed right on the bottom was key to this trip. Water was a little dirty from the storms and wind we had the last couple of days. Using medium action gear with 20lb Ohero braided line with 25 to 30 lb leaded a 1 oz egg weight and #1 circle hook. Action was non stop for the four hour trip that ended with some happy client's ! With not the greatest weather we have been have the last couple weeks. I was able to get out on my 5 hour near shore trip. The bite was slow at first, I had a great moving tide around 10 am. The bite came on fire, the target today was Flounder, Snapper and found some Spanish Mac's With some dirty water the fish did not mind at all. All fish hit on cut bait. Summer is in full swing!!! That means the bite is on fire. Plenty of action on my charters the last couple of days. Flounder, Key West Grunts, Mangrove Snapper, Seabass and much more has been on my near shore hot spots. Great for the kids with so much action out there, you cant keep a bait in the water. I have found the morning bite has been the best, live or dead bait placed on the bottom has been the ticket. We have noticed several large sharks in the area as well.
