Background
As a Florida native and growing up on the treasure coast.fishing was just a way of life.I grew up fishing the treasure coast a few days a week and my father. I am now 30 years old and still fishing the same waters my love for my home town waters runs deeps and my knowledge of my waterways continues to grow. I mainly focus on trophy Snook,Trout and Redfish with a Fly rod or light tackle. Over the summer { June through late August } you can find me in Alaska working in Bristol bay as a Fly fishing guide and casting instructor. Where we target all five species of wild salmon,Arctic char and Grayling. And wild Alaska Rainbow trout. Along with bear viewing and wildlife photography when I am not guiding you can find me at home tying my own flies and fishing jigs and spending time with my girlfriend and her daughter. I run a kid friendly operation and always trying to pass on what I know to the next generation
Techniques
I run a full size 18 foot flats boat.i mainly focus on Fly and light tackle in the inshore and near coastal waterways of the treasure coast {north Vero beach to south Stuart FL} I Focus on trophy Snook, redfish and trout. But we do get a good run of Tarpon and large jacks in the late summer and early fall months.when fishing for redfish and trout it is not uncommon to catch a wide variety of fish with a good percentage of your by catch to be flounder ladyfish, snapper and grouper with the occasional bonefish. My primary goals Are to teach you how to properly fish my waterways keep you safe at all times and provide you with professional Grade pictures and memories of a lifetime .I do offer single angle discount. Very friendly and professional captain. I have booked multiple trips with him and he has always produced no matter the conditions. Most recently got the opportunity to fish a tournament with James and placed second out of 100+ anglers. Also won best fish on fly. I would recommend James to anyone and can’t wait to fish with him again.

The wind was blowing about 25 mph, and the river was so rough I thought the tournament would be cancelled.  Instead, it was game on.  Captain James hustled us across the rough and windy river, and fished us in some select spots sheltered from the wind.  He had gotten up very early that morning and caught us some live bait.  As we fished, we caught several Jacks until he hooked me into a large snook.  We landed the 32 inch snook.  As we worked our way back to the tournament check in, we stopped and fished on last spot.  At that point we were fishing artificials, and hooked up both a trout and a redfish.  That completed the river slam for the tournament.  When we checked in, we won not only the tournament, but also had the largest fish in each category.

Going into this, I was not a big fan of river fishing.  By the end of the day, not only was I loving it, I am working on booking another trip with “772 Fly and Light Tackle Charters”  Captain James was professional, experienced, and friendly.  He had the right bait and the right equipment.

I couldn’t have asked for a better fishing trip! I had an excellent time. Capt. Cronk’s knowledge of the water took us right to where the fish were and his expertise helped me land some nice Snook and Redfish! I will definitely be booking another trip with Capt James!

I had a great time with Capt. James fishing for trout, reds and snook on the Indian River. On my most recent trip with him I ended up with 20 or so trout up to 26 inches and 3 redfish (one over-slot) and 2 snook.  I also jumped 2 large tarpon and landed one of the biggest inshore jacks I’ve ever seen….about 35lbs!  I’ve fished with him about 10 times now over the last few years and have always had a great time!
