- Background
- Captain Cameron Whitaker is a Hatteras Island native. He started fishing with his father at a young age, and got his first boat when he was just 10 years old! He learned the local waters by navigating through the Pamlico Sound. At 16, he began his career as a first mate aboard a local inshore head boat called Cap’n Clam. He also spent many days working aboard the offshore head boat Miss Hatteras. Fishing was only a summer job at the time, while Cameron started studying at East Carolina University. By the age of 20, he was a first mate for Captain Rick Caton aboard the Free Agent. In 2015, Capt. Cameron decided to chart his own course and purchased his first inshore charter boat. He says, "Since my dad is a charter fisherman, it seemed only natural that I follow suit!"
