- Background
- I have been fishing my entire life. My father has been a fishing guide since the 80’s. Growing up he taught me everything that he knew. From using lures and bait to showing me every nook and cranny in the lower Laguna Madre bay I quickly fell in love. Fishing has become a part of me and my life and I became a captain to spread my knowledge and the fun of fishing to anyone interested. I especially encourage the up and coming generation to learn and enjoy fishing. I encourage parents to start their children at as young as possible so it will grow with them, just as my father did for me.
- Techniques
- I prefer to use lures. Soft plastic swim baits rigged on a jig head can produce some serious fish, but that’s not to say you won’t occasionally see me with some sort of bait. However, my most favorite way to fish is with top water hard plastic baits, but the conditions are very specific. It’s has to be glass flat or maybe a slight ripple on the water and the area has to be generally free of floating sea grass as the treble hooks will pick up even a single blade of grass. The blow-ups of redfish breaking the surface and slurping a top water lure are just a beautiful and exhilarating experience.
