Background
I grew up on the beach in Los Mochis, Sinaloa. I came to Los Cabos when I was 17 and have been here for the last 20 years. Surfing and fishing drew me to Los Cabos. I learned how to fish over the last two decades just fishing in pangas with my friends in La Playita here in San Jose. They are all second, third, and even fourth-generation fishermen. The natives here in Southern Baja are called "Choyeros" (Cactus People). Needless to say, I learned from the best – my Choyero friends! I have been a fishing guide in Palmilla since 2010. This year marked a special year for me and my family. My wife and I got married in March, bought our boat in April, and had our daughter in June! We named our boat Sofiamoana after our first daughter! Now I can say I am truly living my dream with my beach-loving family, running fishing trips on the Sea of Cortez!
Techniques
My personal favorite fish to catch and eat is Yellowfin TunaI My boat is a center console and easy to move around in. We've had days where we've got into tuna and had 4 hooked at one time! We are set-up with trawlers and we can fish for anything pelagic, or can go for fun fighters like Rooster fish closer to shore. When you fish with me we will go for what's in season and hit the "hot spots" of the day to get you close to as many fish as possible! Here in the Sea of Cortez we have a wide range of species to fish for up to 30 miles from shore, including Blue, Striped, and Black Marlin, Sailfish, Wahoo, Yellowfin Tuna, Mahi Mahi, Rooster Fish, Snapper, Sea Bass, and many more.
